Washer on ssr head
Guys after pressing bearings inside the arms of an SSR 6 head I’ve noticed maybe a millimeter or less of play on one of the arms between it and the head. Should I use a washer for it or not and if I do should I go ahead and put one on the other side as well, thanks

No picture needed, just a small amount of side to side movement between the arm and the head, approximately a millimeter or less on one side

I think what Terry is saying, is that a picture would be most helpful in determining what the issue actually is. Terry has a boatload of Hirobo knowledge. Why not give him a chance to see what the problem may be?

Adding parts to make something spec may not produce the outcome you desire. At any rate, hope you get it sorted and flying well.

Jerman, I assume you mean by “arms” blade holders. Did you install the spacer collar in-between the inner and outer bearings?

Hello, yes I did. The amount of play is very small, a millimeter or less. Don’t know if the outer thrust bearing has something to do with it or not.

Try swapping the blade holders to the opposite side spindle and see if the gap is the same on the spindle side that currently has the gap. This will narrow the problem to either the blade grip in question or the spindle.

Seems I may have tried that the other day and was still the same but I’ll try it again and see, thanks

Jerman, if you would use the correct terminology on these heads we would be able to help you more efficiently and not have to drag bits and pieces of information out of you in an effort to put the picture together. Blade grips/holders are not arms.

If you get free play in the blade grips after you tighten up the feathering spindle bolts there is definitely something amiss.

On an SSR-6 head there are two feathering spindles, one on each side of the Yoke. If you haven't built the blade grips according to the parts diagram you will have free play in the blade grip assembly.
