For me it was the Ms Composit Whorenet II. I’ve seen them fly in videos and in person well but mine was cursed by the Heli gods. Ended up chopping its own tail boom off in mid air. I still have most of the carcass, I will be throwing it into a active volcano or the Marianas trench if the opportunity ever presents itself.Heli-itis sufferer.

For me it was the TSK 46. The Heli was potentially very good but had some oddity built into it. The 46 appeared to be the ugly love child of the 30 and the 60. What made mine all the more annoying and of no fault to TSK was the OS 46FX-H. This was the only engine that I’ve never managed to make run happily for more than a minute or two at a time. What a contrast to the bullet proof 50SX-H Hyper which unfortunately was still just a twinkle in OS’s eyes. Still I wanted a TSK Acro Star, thankfully I couldn’t afford one.Quest NEO Caliber ZG, Zenoah G260PUH, CGY750, NHP 750, NHP 115.

I would say the Nexus 30 was pretty bad. I'm glad I never got one. I had the Concept and it flew OK for me. The JR Venture 30 was a downgrade from the previous Ergo line but it flew way better than the Nexus.

Nexus 30, could never get the blades to stay tracked. Would get it right and then they would go out of track even with $100 CF blades. The Cheap plastic head was the problem i'm thinking?

Did that nexus have the weird flapping head thing? Maybe the plastic was so cheap, that the main grips flapped just because they wanted too

There were two heads, Nexus S type (Standard) had non flapping head, that one would go in and out of track all the time, the Full Flapping head was used on the Nexus Deluxe (d type f) and Nexus 46 and Legato. That head was a little better staying tracked but still would go out once in a while. The plastic that Kyosho used on the Nexus was not as good as the Concept's when they were made in Japan.

I wonder. If you go back in time and look at a helicopter from 20 or 30 years ago, aren't they all pretty bad - at least by today's standards? Sure the Kyosho products from back in the day needed a lot of TLC to get them flying just right and even more to keep them that way, but didn't all models? Is it fair to take a model out of context and call it "bad"?

I never owned a Nexus but a lot of people I flew with back then had them. During the period they were flying Nexus', I was fly a Gen 1 X-Cell and the tinker factor was very high. The man*hours to flight time ratio had to be 5 to 1. If it wasn't the wire drive tail, it as the wood blades I built (without the correct equipment). If it wasn't the T/R or main blades, it was the o-ring dampers or OS .61SF-N carb or clutch. It was never ending.

It all gets compounded when you consider my worst model was wrenched on by a FNG and outfitted with equipment that is nearly laughable by current standards. And building to a crescendo, not only was I new, and not only was my model an imperfect product, there was little information. 15 years before RunRyder we were modeling in a veritable information desert.

We need rules for this topic about how far back you can go and what constitutes "bad".

My worst model? My first model - an X-Cell .60. Never mind it was one of the best helicopters you could buy at the time.

I had a Concept 46VR with an OS50SX-H and it was great fun. I gave it a lot of fun upgrades but that was normal back then. The only time it flew out of track was with cheap FRP blades. When I used carbon SAB 530’s it was super smooth. The beauty of the flapping head was that it produced variable damping. The higher the RPM the stronger the centrifugal coupling and the harder the damping.Quest NEO Caliber ZG, Zenoah G260PUH, CGY750, NHP 750, NHP 115.

agree with the "Stock" G20 kit... specifically the LT... flew with a mind of its own, more vibrations than an adult toy store and north Korean customer service to top it off.

but honestly worst of the worst... any XHeli clone... and Esky there at the end before going belly up. remember them?
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I bought one of those MFA Sport 500, it was fixed pitch and had a .45 airplane motor in it, wasn't bad looking, but it was a handful to fly, no gyro and fixed pitch, I got it to fly though, one time my wife was with me and she wanted to see it fly, so I took it up and well sometimes it had a mind of it's own, that thing started chasing us one time, scary little booger, finally one flight I was up about 50ft or so and the motor quit, well that was like throwing a brick and watching it fall to mother earth. RIP MFA 500, you were the worst heli ever made.D. Lee.....t.Born again.t.....

That’s a very good point! We are very spoiled by yesterday’s standards. For me at least, that’s why I didn’t nominate the Ikarus Piccolo. For all its faults, I learned to nose in hover with that thing lol.
