The 3D printed versions are good but I wanted more detail. This is a scratch built 1/7 scale version. This one sits nicely on my Century .60 size AH-1S Cobra.

That looks perfect. Can you give us some detail about what materials you used? I have 2 UH-60A Blackhawks that also use the ALQ-144.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Here is a quick checklist of items:
5x5mm silver mirror mosaic glass tiles (China) these come in sheets. (Ebay)
Danco #22 Diverter Washers 9D0035698B (Ace Hardware)
.062" Wooden Dowel (Walmart/Michael's/Home Centers)
Miscellaneous bag of wooden circles (Michael's Craft Store)
Krylon Cranberry Red "stained glass" transparent paint
Testors Modelmaster Champagne Gold Metallic paint
Elmer's clear translucent glue
4 small finishing nails (heads only)
4 sewing pins (heads only)
You will need a hobby knife, pencil, Dremel and tweezers as well.
I am sure that some of you will produce a unit that is superior to mine. I made 3 prototypes in total and each one was improved from the last. It is a tedious but fun little endeavor. If you run into issues, I will try to help as best as I can. Please, share pictures of your best work! I just stared at pictures of the real one and thought about the best way to replicate the ALQ-144. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks very much for the info, my questions would have been as to what you used for the mirrored glass finish on this. I can build the unit quite easily and already have the main housing for it fitted onto my Lynx AH7 (The bit under the tail boom) I did make allowances for this bit to be fitted later on (simple single bolt method)

The Krylon Cranberry Red "stained glass" transparent paint will serve you well. And, I have found that a 5/8" dowel will work better than the .062" one. If you use the 5/8" dowel, there will be no large gaps anywhere on the unit. Hence, it can be viewed at a full 360 degrees without visible flaws.
