Wanting back in hobby after 5 + years gone.
Haven’t flown a heli other than a little 100 in over 5 years. Recently bought a DJI Phantom 2 drone on a good deal and flew it but it’s not for me. I miss my heli’s. I’m wanting to get back in the hobby for around $400. Thinking 400 size but of course I’d rather have a 500 or 550. No idea what’s good anymore and don’t know what’s bad. I know Align is still around. Lol. I need help.
When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

You can get a lot of very good used equipment. I got a Trex550 for $500 minus radio and FBL equipment. That will add another $250 to cost.

Just set a budget and stay within the budget.

You can find used 500's for 350$. The parts are cheap and easy to find, the cost of flying these are low.

A 550 requires a little more funds to fly and maintain.

Ikon and msh brain FBL are affordable and easy to setup.

The latest thing is transmitter integration to the FBL unit.
Aside from that if you wait a little and surf the classifieds in November December you can find great deals.

Thanks for the responses. I may keep surfing the classifieds and go used 500. I have to sell the drone first though. So is the beastx good still? Vbar cheaper? Also, cheap but good transmitter? I still plan on buying Turnigy batteries. When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

I like the BeastX. I have three. I am using stand alone units not the Spektrum receiver combined.

My tip of the hat for the MSH Brain2/Ikon2. I've been very pleased with the setup and performance and it's a good price for full featured fbl, you can access advanced flight tuning, logging capabilities and have rescue right outta the box. Beast and vbar cost extra for those features and they are more expensive on top of it.
