Hey all, I have a vario benzine trainer that is going in there big jet ranger body. How much torque should the servos have? I don't want to spend a lot on servos for a bird I'm not going to fly to often.

Hi:

I have tried a set of standard HV (7.4v) servos from Savox and they seem to do the job quite nicely. They are the SV-0220HV which have 111 oz.in. torque at 7.4v. They are a very inexpensive servo at around 35.00 CDN and will do the job. I have them on an Align 600EFL Pro that will be installed in a slightly smaller Vario Jet Ranger body in a year or so. If you don't mind spending more, then the Coreless SA-1258TG would be a good choice as it is around 80.00 CDN with 166 oz.in. torque at 6v. There are a myriad of high end servos with specs to match available which are mostly over 150.00 each. The most I have spent on servos were a spare Futaba BLS451 at 150.00 tax in and a complete set of BK HV (8.4v) Coreless DS-7002/7006 servos for my 800 class F3C helicopter which were in the same ballpark as the Futaba. They are very middle of the road in price and do have some very impressive specs. All are available here in Ontario. Hope this helps.
