I have used ikon for a long time with no problems with the bail out
I switched my 700 n to my new dx9 and HAD TO update firm ware to make settings . now it bails out up side down or side ways . after a fue flights the bail out no longer works and the head pumps 8 times on power up . I have seen this in 5 other helis . I thought is was due to vibration . my 700 n was fine right up to updating the soft ware . the common link is all the outer 5 helis are running the new soft ware .
is any one else: having the same problem ??

I had a similar problem on my 600N
I ended up redoing the set up from factory reset and a new radio model.
It works well now .

The 8 pitch-pumps on power-up indicates the accelerometers have failed the power-on initialization test on the controller.

When the accelerometers fail, "Rescue" is disabled.

It was not the firmware update that caused the failure.
But the new firmware added some additional power-on self tests of the accelerometers to make sure they were ready for "Rescue" or "Auto Level"

The accelerometer failure may be related how the gyro was mounted on the heli or a past or recent crash.
For nitro, your best bet is to use the Futaba FUTQ1000 Gyro Pads for mounting the gyro. Anything else is not recommended by MSH for nitro.
But, changing the mounting pad isn't going to help resurrect the failed accelerometers.

I am not sure why you see it on 6 heli.
Except the common thread may be the age of the iKON controllers, how many times they have been crashed and the frequency of firmware updates (or lack of updates).

The MSH controllers have a set of 3-axis accelerometers and a set of 3-axis gyros. They are separate from each other.
The gyros are used for stabilization and the accelerometers are used for rate of change.
You can fly it without the accelerometers.
Unless you see some odd flying behavior, the gyros probably still work fine.

For MSH (iKON / Brain), "bailout" is related to "bailing out of an aborted autorotation" and not "Rescue".

There are a couple "voodoo troubleshooting" methods that can bring it back for a while. But, the 8 pitch-pumps will return at some point.

Thank you great info
My old unit has never been in a crash. I installed a brand new Ikon HD and took it for a flight.
I tried the bailout after about 15 seconds and it worked then again at about 45 seconds and it bailed out sideways I tried it one more time after about a minute and a half and it almost flipped completely over the next time I powered it up I got eight pumps on power up this icon only had one flight. Obviously mine is caused buy some type of vibration. What I don't understand is prior to the software update which I only did because I was switching the radio I used bailout quite often and it worked great the old Ikon and helicopter combination had about 30 flights on it prior to this. A few of the guys I fly with have been complaining about the eight pumps and the bailout not working properly on there helicopters which had been crashed so I just assumed it was a vibration issue on theirs. The software update must have just added some new test on the ground thank you for your information.

I had problems with IKon software
I am not saying this is your problem, but I recently had huge problems with a bad download of the IKon software. Many hours wasted with tech support without a resolution. Finally, I dl'd the latest software again and everything was fine. just suggesting...

Three things:
1) If it is under warranty, try to get a replacement.
Per your description, you bought a new iKON2 HD and the accelerometers failed on the first flight.
If they replace it, use the Futaba Gyro Tape to mount it (one layer).

2) The HD means you have the newer iKON2 (not the older iKON). The old iKON did not have an "HD" version.
All versions of the Brain2 and iKON2 have built-in vibration logging and playback.
If you hook the unit to your Windows PC and run the MSH iKON Configuration Application, you can download the vibration log file from the iKON2 and play it back.
That will pin-point your vibration problem quickly.
You will see a big spike at a certain frequency (that may point to the source of the vibration) until the accelerometers fail.

3) Update the firmware often.
They will roll out new features and bug fixes regularly.
Its free, use it.
