Criticizing the POTUS
An interesting phenomena has surfaced recently with criticizing the POTUS. Many people are now relating this to be anti-American. Of course, this wouldn’t be the case with these same people when Obama was in office. In that case, they would lash out with their criticisms and say that’s freedom of speech (which I agree). Now, hard Trump supporters are getting confused or simply never understood that part very well because they are now equating loyalty to a president to patriotism which is not the case.

As Americans, we have freedom of speech. You may not like the content of the speech, but let’s not lose track of that fundamental right.

Where the confusion arises is not having to do with freedom of speech but with the facts around Trump's policies and the opposition to those policies.

It turns out the people opposing Trump align themselves with open borders, ANTIFA, and socialist Democrats.

It is the people supporting open borders, ANTIFA, and socialist Democrats that are clearly working against the best interest of Americans. Thus it follows that people working against Americans are, of course, anti-American.

I hope this clears things up for you.

..... let me stop you right there. NO! My criticism was around the use of foul language, his lies and assertions without evidence. NOTHING to do with policies.

That's because my post was referring to all criticism of Trump is now viewed as Anti-American in some hard-core circles. That's the alarming part. So for the purposes of this post, let's say there are two categories of criticisms: Superficial and Policy Based. Can we agree that all superficial criticism is under freedom of speech and has no bearing on patriotism?
We can discuss policy-based criticism later.

All criticism is protected by freedom of speech, but I still don't see where you're getting the foul language stuff.

The hate from the left has driven them off the cliff. Because Trump proposes to control our borders, the Democrats are pushing to disband ICE and open the borders completely.

We are faced with one of two choices...Trump and his direction or the Democrats complete tear down of the US. An official open border would cause a massive influx of humanity from all over the world. There would panic to get here before the border recloses.

Our middle class would be destroyed and our poor would be buried in a sea of unavoidable poverty. As always the poor would suffer the most, but all would effected.

The Democrats are becoming more bold with socialism and radical anti-American ideals. Their embracing illegals from south of the border is strengthening groups like La Raza to become more active in pushing for open borders. La Raza was made possible by the Ford foundation. To help further their efforts, La Raza is changing their name to UnidosUS.

^^Again, 100% spot on. I just don't understand why the liberals and Demoncrats are hell bent on destroying this country. Ideology I suppose...and stupidity.

Tekparasite, your title states you live in Texas. I'm going to make a wild guess that you are a 'trans planted' Texan and not born Texan.

Just curious.

dilberteinstein Because Trump proposes to control our borders, the Democrats are pushing to disband ICE and open the borders completely.

We are faced with one of two choices..
This is the part where I think a well placed biased argument by the media works wonders on people. You go from Abolish ICE, to open borders, to the impact in our economy. While that kind of thinking sounds logical, it's a strawman argument. No different than the democrats saying.. Republicans and libertarians don't care about people because they want to get rid of Obamacare. If you pay attention, Democrats want to abolish ice AND replace it with something else. But the biased media only report: "Abolish ICE" and then hint the 'open border' concept and you connect the rest of the dots.
Where democrats have failed is to explain what they are going to replace ICE with? Similar to republicans saying "Repeal and Replace Obamacare" while failing to ever thinking about a plan for replacement. Another point democrats fail to explain is DHS which is under ICE? Those folks do great work in my opinion (for being a government agency).

These are canned cookie-cutter arguments I wish people would break away from. Study how news is being fed to you. Listen to the actual argument and challenge them on substance and not on a strawman argument presented to you by bias news outlets.

You and I were never taught in school how to digest biased news media. In fact, nobody did. So, we are all at the job without training and we need to train ourselves.

Nope. Current behavior. The guy still doesn't know the meaning of the words: Always, Never, Everybody, and Nobody. Just an example.

So, here's a litmus test. If you had seen the same results but with Hilary as president, would you have said the same thing to her? I don't care what you did or said.. etc.

Something tells me you wouldn't. You may claim 'yes' for the purposes of this chat, but dig deep inside. Chances are, the media you are listening to would paint a picture of horror EVEN if the results were the same.

Born and raised in Texas my friend. However, I have adopted several principles when it comes to politics (and religion). I don't follow party lines. To fall in line doesn't mean you are right. It could be that more people are wrong. The only way to figure things out is to challenge ourselves with healthy conversation and try to push bias aside as much as we can.

It occurs to me how polar opposite Trump and Obama are.

Obama looked good. Said the right things. Felt Presidential. Gave a good speech. The world loved him for his helping message. However, his actions also seemed to be damaging to the US. He seemed to working to dismantle America. He seemed to put the Democratic National Convention above Tax Payer. He condoned and even support massive illegal immigration.

At the other extreme is Trump. I wouldn't let him date my daughter. I see him with his pursed lips and comb-over and pray he doesn't speak- and then he does- and I flinch a little. I occasionally run across one of his tweets (Presidents don't tweet) and wonder if he's the best we have to offer. But unlike every President going back to Ronald Reagan, I'm left with the impression that Mr. Trump is working in the best interest of the American people.

Obama: Looked good. Bad actions. Very damaging to my country.
Trump: Looks bad. Good actions. Poor politician. Seems to actually be trying to fulfill promises.

Foul language? Are you high or just stupid? Speaking the truth is never "foul language" . . . and the entire PC bullcrap concept is just another libtard mechanism to suppress opposition to their massively destructive agenda. O'Bumbles was criticized for being an idiot and causing massive destruction to the country, for aiding and funding it's enemies, and for creating a more deeply set entitlement class (that actually has no legitimate entitlement), and for basically coddling criminals in manners which are directly in conflict with US law. The only complaint I hear from the 'tards on Trump is "he said a word I don't like . . . whineeeeeeeeeeee" and honestly I don't give a damn. We didn't elect him to be likeable or to win popularity contests (most folks realize that crap does not matter about at puberty . . . the rest become libtards . . . ) We elected him to unf**k O'Bumbles mess, and he is doing a fantastic job, despite all the unsubstantiated lies and claims to the contrary. How about applying that same level of critical view to Hildegaard the Destroyer, and her sale of strategic assets to an enemy state, just for starters? No grey area - it's all documented, so need to even write any lies!

tekparasite Republicans and libertarians don't care about people because they want to get rid of Obamacare.
Because it's a total clusterf**k, and steals from the people illegally to fund it? Want health care? Get off your fat ass and earn it! I do *NOT* accept the liberal crack induced fantasy that everything should be free or from the government. If you make me pay for some other persons whatever, that's called *THEFT* (or more politely socialism/communism) which is wrong in all possible ways!

We need motivations for others to be productive, not to encourage an entire culture to sit on it's ass and say "gimmeeeeee!". Assistance for those getting back on their feet, sure . . . a free ride for the lazy for life, no way in HELL!

The Democrats plan to replace ICE with open borders period. That IS their plan.

Time for you to fess up about being a Democrat. Your posts are telling on you. Are you a first generation from south of the border? Second maybe?? What?
