If the site goes dark in November by what Mark alluded to what happens to all the data, our pictures?

any chance another can buy the website? would he even consider selling it?

when does RunRyder officially go dark?

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

For now I am stopping all RR software development.

The RC discussion world needs to consolidate. RR is now one choice for that. If RR's better mousetrap is not appealing then so be it. Time will tell. There is no official going dark date. I would prefer my investment in RR development go forward and be rewarded with increased traffic from all facets of RC.

It's might get too annoying up top. I think everyone will eventually see it at the bottom. Thanks for the feedback.

What a sad day.. We all owe you so much mark. What can we do? Id happily make a donation, monthly, yearly whatever. Im sure many members feel this way. There is an absolutely UNDENIABLE amount of knowledge on your site. As ive gotten older ive come to appreciate learning new things, and while most of the info is a few years old here im still constantly learning. Id be heartbroken to see it disappear. Can we make donations? Even if just to keep the domain paid for without improvements so it just doesn't go away? Hell, what about selling the site to someone just to preserve the info?

Just looking at my info, while im still a young punk, i joined the site 13 years ago. Im 26 now. RR Has been a big part of my life, for literally half of my life. I wouldnt have gone anywhere in this hobby if not for here. And i know its the same for many other pilots.

Lets Fly!

Mark, I want to lead off that I like this site much better that the other one, but because this one is apparently dying I figured I might as well begin to migrate over there, which I do not want to do.

RM3 has been brutally honest, and I may be here also. Mark I think you have alienated too many people in this hobby. You alienated me for 2-3 years over one word "DUMB" as in "Avoid the default settings in life, Fat 'Dumb' and Poor!" I used it in my signature line, and you asked/told me to remove it because someone was offended. I left that day and didn't return for a looong time.

I read your link to Redit, or what ever it is called. I guess I need to withdraw from the forum thing, and get a life.

If you follow the 80/20 rule and alienate 20% of your followers eventually you will eventually be in the shape you are today. Today 80% of the people love you but next year their time will be up. I have heard this for years about this site and at one point my number came up, as seen above.

I was just over on the other site at 10am on a Saturday morning, and they had almost 3,000 people on line. Either they are lying OR this is the reason this site is dying.

Mark you have done a fine job on this site (Which is the reason I like it better) but sometimes "the soup is done" I really feel you have done "tooo" much tweeking on it. The other site has not changed since it was opened. I am guessing it is a 'canned' site which was purchased because I see the same SW on other sites.

Another problem I see with this hobby is all of the team members. I don't see "Team Harley" anywhere. I am so sick of all of this, and I am not jealous, we all want to think we purchased the best heli and promote it. But these guys just do it for the free ****, and that puts them in the same class and some of the other free **** members we all know.

Ok that fair, now my rebuttal. Why do you advertise for them, if you are not getting a discount? AKA "free ****" The same thing about wearing a T-shirt with a big checkmark on it, and paying 2 times the price for it, than a shirt without the checkmark. It is nothing more that a marketing ploy, that we have all fallen for. There has to be something in it for you, or else you would not participate in it.

I am not going to say I do not advertise for anyone, but I am very careful and they are far between. In the example above I do not see the advantage for paying a premium for their logos, when they are the beneficiaries!

Because I believe in the brand, I have owned others and they do not stack up. I stared when the N9 was in its infancy, now its a legend and still an awesome flying machine. I like the owners, and on top of it I can support an American based small business. I tried that with Castle and got burned, literally, now you couldn't give me something of theirs.
PS, you should see my closet. Full of free t shirts from brands I like. I am a self employed farmer, there are no dress codes

Sad news really. It's been a great ride so far. I'm hoping things will work out but the hobby isn't what it once was. I salute you Mr. Ryder for all your valiant efforts keeping US going all these years.

Might be time to build a new mousetrap in a different hobby. A few months ago I found a new hobby, PCP air gunning! Then I discovered there is only ONE website for the high end air gunners, called Airgunnation.com The site is slow and could use a lot of improvement. Someone has an opportunity, and the sport is on fire!

Air gun technology is not close to peaking, and new airguns are just starting to incorporate electronic technologies. For the price of new Goblin 700 you can buy one of the best air guns in the world, called the Daystate Red Wolf. (google it) Just like a Goblin, its a fine piece of jewelry! And its powered with a 2s lipo, and 4500psi air required.

Maybe a new site called AirRyder in the future! I could see Mark with towel over the head doing competition videos. No blades incoming,

And yep, I have a new Red Wolf .22 HP laminate with the Aztec Scope that I purchased from AOA (airguns of arizona). Hitting a dime at 100 yards no prob.

Resale value in the hobby is outstanding too.

Now I alternate between heli's and air guns on weekends....

funny you should ask! The Freedom 10 shoebox has been at the top of my list, but I'm holding myself back. Plenty of dive shops around me that top off my 100cfm Omega tank for 5 bucks. And a lot of new compressors coming out in the near future... oh what fun! lol

Also wanting a Daystate Regal XL HR. darn, this hobby is just as addicting as heli's!!
