this is what you get when you stick a swash and main rotor for a Heli onto the front of a Plane... very interesting

Hobbico made something like this about 10 or 12 years ago called V-Pitch for small foam planes. I had one, it worked well. It did not have the swash but you could stop a plane in midair and fly backwards for a short period.

Team Synergy, Team FBL Rotors-------if its not broke...it will be!

Yep, been there done that. There were masters of the Variable pitch props that could do wicked stunts due to the light weight of the planes. This guy did pretty well with a big one...

Neat. It’s not a heli swash though. If you look at the beginning it looks like it’s an SAB 3 blade head (or maybe tail) to give the variable pitch and then a servo to tilt the whole thing left and right to give yaw control. Different than the way everyone played around with it in 2006 or so since it has that tilt for more control. Pretty cool results.

ah yes you are correct... wonder though, if he went to the trouble of putting the tilt mechanism in it with variable pitch... he should have just built it with a swash instead and get more directional bias, which is what he was doing with the tilt mech... that would have made for some wicked nose control that would have multiplied the effects of the rudder. then he could have used rudder and elevator to signals to control the nose "swash".

Yes... I think they are 400 class blades... not sure what size exactly... really neat to see a blending of heli tech and planks...
