Ok heres the lowdown on today. We did static at 10am with flying at 2pm. I think there was 6 of us i believe. Steve did an awsome save of his Bo105 after a hairy situation so he didnt get to finish his round. Eaton had yaw axis issues and duffered the same fate. More tomorow

Had a chance to check out the scale area at the Vario booth today. Absolutely beautiful work by a lot of talented individuals! I am curious to know if the giant scale Bell Long Ranger shown in one of the photos is a Vario kit. Does anybody have some insight on it? Thanks

That fuselage came from http://www.SuperScaleHelis.com and the man's name is George Blanchette. I remember he built a beautiful Long Ranger that was on the cover of Radio Comtrol Modeler many years ago. It was what was back then called a 60 size fuselage and if memory serves me right it was done in Virginia State Police scheme.

That is certainly not a 60. Trust me on that, 42Foxtrot is 1/4 scale.

I was referring to the Long Ranger he built many years ago as being a 60 size.

Ah yes. Ok. I remeber several years ago the guy who would ran the superscalehelis site. He did a 1/4-scale Jet Ranger, Long Ranger & 407. Absolutely beautiful work and unbelievably scale. The website appears to be dead so I do not know if his products are still available or perhaps somebody picked up the molds and so forth. I want to say he got a license from Bell to produce them. Anybody know if these are still available?

Thanks

Ircha was a blast this year. The pilot registration was only about 500 ladt time i checked but it was still a good ircha. The scale turnout was good and everyone flew well in the scale contest. I didnt envy the judges at all. In the end when the smoke cleared Steve smith took 3rd with his BO-105, Mike (Grim) took second with his EC145 and yours truly took 1st with my UH-72 Lakota.thanks to the judges larry Chapman, Don Irvine and Nats Winner Rene Gotier (i think i spelled that right) for judging what was a tough one. Gotta get ready for next year's nats and ircha.
