Is the 18SZH discontinued?
I was just about ready to buy an 18SZH and first problem is they’re not available and when I liked on Futabas website they only show the Airplane version—SZ. I tried calling Tower and Futaba and did not have any luck in getting to a human that I could ask.

Available at futabausa.com

https://futabausa.com/shop/systems/futaba-18sz/

18SZH shows up on both futabausa.com and futaba-rc.com. Not sure what website you to which you are referring.

To be sure, buying Futaba has been hit or miss for a few months now. Mostly miss. Hopefully that will be changing rapidly.

While the 18SZH is difficult to buy right now, it has not be discontinued. They are in stock outside the US.

I would add, I'm not sure I would buy a Transmitter from a non-US supplier... but they do exist and they have not been discontinued.

Others may have a better idea when you might find one in stock in the US or better advice about buying from outside the country.

My point is that subject titles like the one in this thread is how false rumors are born ......

It’s phrased as if it was a “fact” and not a “question”.....

You'll be able to order in the US VERY soon. Ordering from RCJ will give you no warranty through FutabaUSA and no ability to seek domestic service when needed.

Ordering from RCJ will give you no warranty through FutabaUSA and no ability to seek domestic service when needed.
Why is that?

I could understand the policy when a 3rd party, Hobbico, was responsible for import and warranty. With Futaba now being distributed by itself, Futaba(USA), it would seem that Futaba would be willing to service their products regardless of where they were bought. It's understandable that Hobbico was unwilling to extend warranty service to products you didn't buy from them. Futaba unwilling to extend warranty services to its own products, even if not purchased from its own US distributor, is a little baffling.

I'm sure there is a reason and it's not import that I understand. This doesn't require a response. Still...

Transmitters and receivers sold outside of the US market place typically are Telece (sp) certified, not FCC. There are different service parts involved which Futaba USA does not stock as well as legalities for servicing such equipment not carrying appropriate FCC labeling.

Those customers who have purchased transmitters, receivers, or 760R's from RCJ can contact RCJ for instructions on where to seek service and warranty support.

Futaba 18 SZH
Thanks to all and Ben for the information. The last thing I had in mind was starting a rumor when good information has become increasingly more difficult with fewer local hobby shops, fewer fun flys, etc.
I will absolutely wait to buy from a U S seller and now am only a little apprehensive about learning Futaba programming—I’ve been JR for quite awhile but it’s time to change and head to the orange!
