The first screen showed I was in N mode.

I ended up with ServoDirComb #2.

Results are

Collective stick moves swashplate up and down and it stays level.

Moving the Coll. forward makes the swashplate move down.

Moving the right stick forward makes the Ele. servo pull the rear of the swashplate down and the front servos push up. Moving the right stick backwards produces opposite result.

Moving the right stick to the right makes the right servo push the swashplate up and the left servo pulls the right side down. Elevator servo does not move.

Moving the right stick to the left produces the opposite result(ele servo does not move).

The right stick seems to be backwards to me...

Sounds like you need to adjust the “SWS DIR” for aileron, elevator and pitch from - to + or visa versa after the servo DirComb setting... or you have yet to select the right DirComb number...

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I also can not "calibrate" the Hitec Energy Sport ESC. The instructions say to turn on the tx, put the left stick to full throttle, then power up the ESC and i should hear 2 beeps, then put left stick to minimum throttle. It never does the 2 beeps. It is connected to the receiver's channel 3 port.

However, when the tx is at minimum throttle and the heli is powered up, the ESC sings a series of beeps and pauses for 45 secs. I found a youtube video explaining the meaning of the beeps and will try to figure it out after the CGY is sorted out.

Is there anything I have to do to to the tx first? Or will it sort itself out when the CGY is correct? I am nervous that I will have to change something that will screw up the CGY.

Thats why I stated in the beginning if you had a regular RX with individual outputs for each servo it would be best to set up the TX first and ensure that all the servos are responding as they should to TX stick movements... that way you then only have to mess with the CGY and the rx... If the TX is not setup properly you'll end up "technically" setting up the CGY750 incorrectly...

As for the ESC, I have no idea as I have no experience with that brand. my CGYs are setup to run gassers...

Do you have the throttle channel reversed in your transmitter? We usually set the throttle channel to reversed in the transmitter with Futaba. Make sure your rotor blades and tail blades are removed when working on this part to avoid damage and pain.

After double checking servodircomb i found that #7 moves the swashplate correctly! Lucky thing because I can't find DirCOMB on my ver1.31.

No, I do not have the throttle channel reversed. I will try that. Blades are already removed.

Good call! The rotor now spins, up to maybe 100rpm, then quits. I assume I have to program the max rpm.

Then there is the issue of the swashplate servos are now far away from center...

well thats an easy fix... as stated already remove all linkages to prevent binding then go into TX and set each swash servo to 100% on end points... and no expo and remove any subtrims, then go into TX swash settings and set the pitch curve from 0 to 100% and any reverse functions. Do all this for for the rudder and throttle too. Ensure when setting everything up you do so for both hover and idle up 1/2...
THEN go into the CGY and set everything the same... ... once all servos are centered (as indicated by the TX in idleup 1 or 2, pitch should be zero, tail should be neutral and throttle set accordingly) then re attach the servo horns perpendicular, then attach the linkages.
Once you get done there you can adjust the swash AFR, curves etc according to the manual for the CGY. CGY750 version 1.3 was not the best (they are up to 2.0 now) and alot of the settings are different between the latest and 1.3... I highly recommend updating to the last version... you'll need a CIU-2 cable and computer with USB... its pretty simple.

When centering the arms on the servo, put the gyro into the neutral adjust screen before you position the arms. Besides allowing for fine adjustments, that menu turns off the cyclic gyros so the servos repeatedly center.

Where in Washington state are you located? Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time, but there are several heli guys throughout the state.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

I am in Battle Ground, Wa., 25 miles north of Portland. I was hoping to find someone down this way that I could pay to update the cgy750 for me.

Do you have the capability to update the 750 on your own? If so I would be willing to send you the hardware to update it, then you send it back to me when you're finished.

I'm in the process of moving, so no promises I can find the hardware.

Tangent post here--- I was exploring the Runrider forum at work today (I program and run a large cnc machine, it often has a 2 hour cycle time, very boring, pardon the pun) and I'm thinking how I could politely ask to borrow a Futaba adaptor thing to update my cgy, when the above post magically appears. You guys are amazing!

And thanks for the help everyone.

Update- Using the ver 1.31, the heli seems to work correctly(on the bench). In idle up normal I have a straight throttle and pitch curve.
In idle up 1 I have a 3d throttle and pitch curve.
The swashplate moves correctly in both modes with both sticks. The rotor spins correctly. The rudder gyro tries to correct when I spin the heli around it's mainshaft axis.

But nothing happens when I tilt the heli forward or sideways. I assume this is because on the CGY750 opening screen, after the flipping heli, it shows

AILn ----- ELEn ----- RUDa.

I know the "n" is for normal and "a" is for AVCS but I don't know how to change it!
