What Do You Fly? Do You Build
Let's get a discussion going on what drones you fly and how you like them.

How many builders are hanging out here? Come on, even though RunRyder is known for helis, there are a bunch of us clandestine drone users out here.

Yes, I have a DJI Phantom 3 standard I bought this new for couple of year a go until last year I decided to fly take it out of the box and go through a few you tube video for setup down load control app for my Samsung tap and I have to down load to update Phantom 3 software because my is a early Phantom 3 version it took me for couples hours to do this it is a head age process I have re- down load a few time to achieve the soft ware update then after that I start test flying it, imagine it is very stable I like the way when the drone go out of control range then it is return home by guiding with a GPS. I have a few drone fly away before because they do not have a GPS system on them. I even update the long range antenna for my Phantom3 remote control but it seem only goes for about 4 thousand feet way then it is return home I saw on you tube that man can fly his drone with update antenna up to some 14 thousand feet away I don't know how can he do that?

I have several drones with a couple of flying systems. I have a mavik pro that I like. I also have a couple DJI-Naza-M multi rotor builds that I have completed. I have been doing this for a while.

You seem to be lost. This is the drone section. You may want to consider boats instead.

I have a Mavic Pro and a Typhoon H. Don't fly them much unless I'm after some specific aerial content. For the past two and a half years I've been working for a commercial US based fixed wing VTOL manufacturer, and get plenty opportunity to fly those.

Mini quads
I have a number of Aliens, a Skitzo, Stingy, and a couple of ZMRs. All flown FPV unless testing. All flown at very low altitude and crashed into the ground, trees and other obstacles on a regular basis.
Fly a PARC system for our fire dept at work.

Well HELLO zombie thread! After 8 long years of being out of the hobby due to job loss, movement, etc, I am now back. WooooHoooo! No more heli's for me, but quads and fpv all the way (can't stand the name drone for something I fly). I just built a quad copter, 550 sized Discoveryish model. And my first adventure into OpenTX...OMG what a learning curve there. But as much as things have changed, the basics are still there. Got a short couple of hovers in before my lower back and left hip decided to screw with me. Regardless, will be posting some pics soon. 'Lucy, I'm home.'

Haha yeah it’s kinda like a scroll in “walking dead” here. I still love the helis, I had my 500size oiled and shelved in the cabinet with glass door. Weekends are drones and once in a few months, I would blast the micro mcpX, the usual inverted hover, flips and loops. Well, the good thing with drones is it introduces RF to many. Yep, I am talking about building antennas from cheap parts that you find in the thrift stores. Recently, I started making microstrip on PCB and the precision is on a totally different level. Here’s a powerful twin array of pagoda antennas that I just completed over the weekend, i am posting my build video here because it works so well!

Thanks for watching my video. There's still a lot of RF fundamental stuff in books, which I don't understand at all. I'm only lucky to have a friend answered most of my noob questions, he's an RF engineer working in the national defense labs.

Ornithopter adventure
I used to fly the “ cybird” ornithopter and had even retro-fitted a brushless-motor on it to increase its power for outdoor flights. But it is heavy for its short wing span so the arms break in every rough landing. 2months ago, I picked up this dual wing RC toy bird from Aliexpress and was surprised to see how well it flew out of the box. It could take a lot of beating too. I crashed it into trees many times and it still functions like new (not even a stripped gear). The only problem it has, is its short RC range (about 55ft). Last weekend, I made a PCB BiQuad Antenna, soldered an SMA connector to the radio controller and put on the Biquad antenna. And now, I can fly it to 120ft away. For LOS, this range is plenty as it is really hard to see the bird’s orientation once it gets past 100ft.
