Diabolo 700UL Maiden (first minicopter build)
Well after many hours of building, asking questions, and initial set-up, I've maidened my first minicopter.

All I can say is WOW!!! It was AWESOME!!!

I need to do some NEO tweaking as the tail isn't holding on pitch pumps or climb outs but it's VERY smooth, quiet, and feels precise.

I do have one question though. While it's only had (2) 3 min flights with a few flips and rolls, the vibes are quite high. My V-Control & NEO are reporting vibes of around 3400-3500

By contrast, my Logos are always between 1600-1800

Do I chalk this up as the gears needing more break-in? Is it maybe the canopy vibrating on something? When I built it, the manual said to make sure there's a little backlash in the gears. I had a decent amount so I didn't try to change anything. Maybe it's too much backlash. I set the motor pinion with a very slight amount of backlash.

Can anyone running a NEO tell me what their vibes are?

Other than that, I just need to move my packs forward about 1.5 inches for better CG and put my stickers on the canopy. I will post some pics when I can.

Thanks to all of you that helped with my build questions.

Sometimes the canopy will chatter on the front canopy mounts during flips and so forth. Can you hear it rattling anytime in flight?

Did your canopy mounts come with the slot style posts and cups?

Hi Ben.

No, there's no rattling. It's fitting pretty snug. I'm using RC-Booya quick release mounts. I do have an R2 buffer double side taped to the side frame. It's on fairly good too but I'll add some reinforcements just in case.

Any other ideas?

I can't say what was the condition that caused the vibes in your UL.

I have a Logo 600SE and 2 Diabolo 700BE. All of them fly with NEO. The Logo vibration level is similar to you but the vibes at my Ds are higher which resulted in one of them caused NEO rescue sensor to sound abnormal alarm when start.

The Ds are very well made. I build mine according to the manual and shim the gears where necessary. I love the sound when it spools up and into hovering. I can tell the gear trains are very smooth and no sign of vibration at the canopy nor at the tail.

Having said that, the Ds have very rigid frame compares to Logo because of the material. Vibration can very easily be picked up by the sensors in NEO. I don't know yours but I mounted my Neo in my BE with the carbon plate on top of the metal back plate.

As long as my Neos don't give me extreme vibes alarm, I am not too concern about the vibes level of my Ds.

Thanks Chris. My NEO is mounted directly to the top rear CF plate.

I've secured the R2 buffer and ESC better and will give it a go this weekend.

Dave,

I can back Chris up. The Diabolos are designed much more rigid than the logos resulting in the vbar showing higher vibration levels. With that said, I have not had any vibration related issues with my Diabolos so far. Been flying them for quite awhile now.

I posted some pics of the slotted cano mounts. they help lock the Cano in tight. The older style would allow the rattle as mentioned previously.

here is how my neo is mounted.

also, I have had the rescue init failure, as you mentioned. it ended up being a loose boom support end. once, I corrected that, it went away.

Thanks hams.

I've tightened down some wiring, the R2 buffer and moved the antenna whisker mount away from the canopy.

That helped. I'm now seeing around 2200-2300 which is still a little high but I will use some Thunder Tiger plastic gear grease on the gears as I was running them dry.
