T-REX 700 › Questions about setup before first flight

I've recently decided to get back into flying a larger heli's, and the T-REX 700 is my first large electric. I'm just a sport flyer that performs a few aerobatic maneuvers (i.e. flips, rolls, inverted, no 3D) Since it's a completely different game setting up an electric heli vs. nitro, I have a couple of questions. First, here's where I am: heli is assembled with the RX and BeastX Plus setup complete. Everything has been checked & rechecked and looks excellent at this point. My questions pertain to final setup before the first flight. I haven't made any changes to the RCE-BL130A from stock. Do I need to? I'm accustomed to setting headspeed by using the radio's throttle & pitch curves. Is there any reason I shouldn't set parameter B in the BeastX to "TX mode" (blue solid) and setup my throttle curves, pitch curves and gyro in the manner I'm accustomed to doing? Is there a better way? I know the default setting for parameter B is "sport". When I take this thing out for its first test flight, don't want to dump it due to some setup issue that I was ignorant about. Thanks in advance for you help.

Those are nice videos the only problem arises from the fact he doesn't have a Hobbywing ESC he has an Align.

In full disclosure, the only heli I don't have is and 700E and I (no) longer fly a Beastx. You do not have to do anything special. I am assuming you are going to fly 'Flight modes' just set them up as usual. Later after you are past the first few flights you may want to look into governing the HS but it is not required at this point. Set up Mode 1 with a ramp that flattens out at about the HS you are looking for and mode 2-3 flat for the constant HS you want.

The software is the same, I would use the esc unless I know that’s it programmed correctly. If you have the hobbywing program box, it’s very simple.

Agreed start out simple and work your way up. It'll be much easier to diagnose a problem.

Have you spooled up without the blades... about 75% to check drive train for vibes or binding ?

Bench testing is not enough imho

Parameter B is simply 'Control behavior', any of them still allow you to use your own throttle and pitch curves. The only difference in the control behaviors is the cyclic roll/flip rates and expo, all of them are totally controllable, even 'Extreme' so don't be afraid of them, I actually find 'Extreme' not fast enough but I fly 3D. Many people opt for 'TX' mode because you can then dial in your own dual rates and expo (my preference is max dual rates and 20-30% expo on cyclic).

As for that ESC, I believe you can turn the governor off but it's much better to leave it on. To start with I would have throttle curves like this:

Normal 0-40-70-70-70
IU1 75-75-75-75-75
IU2 80-80-80-80-80

The governor will cut in once the rpm has been reached for the throttle % you have set in the curves. Remember to be around 0 pitch at spool up.

P.S. Remember to do the throttle calibration process first.
