You still have ZERO posts in Landcraft, Drone, UAS-UAV, Contest and only 7 in 'Place', and 13 in Watercraft to date.
I have not even started working on site expansion. First I need work out some underlying and fundamental design issues. I am working seven days a week addressing this.

By compartmentalizing every aspect of RC you also reduced the exposure one may get from a post...
No the idea is to bring the RC world together and just maybe the RC enthusiast will learn something new. The RR design will allow you to pick and choose without being overwhelmed as one is with the lagacy catch all forum designs out there. The new design does nothing to adversely impact RR's RC Helis website. Bookmark it and it's your same stand alone site as it has been for 17 years.

Not trying to be harsh Mark, I understand the idea of grow or die in this industry... but in practice it just doesnt seem to be working out for the silent majority... I think you diluted the website too much with the layers...
This is serious business with serious investments in both time and resources. The dilution argument does not hold water. This ship sinks if it does not attract more page views. RR RC Helis is still the same one layer.

If you think the OLD layout is dying its not because of design... its simply the interest in the hobby... the same is happening over on HF.
Dont know what else to tell you... honestly what were or are you trying to accomplish?
Earn a living.

Build the Heli website? or build a RC plane website? or an all encompassing RC website? Sometimes a jack of all trades approach is not the best way to go. Id rather be great at a small hand full of things than mediocre at everything.
How is this mediocre?

. Then you dont understand human nature and the strategy that successful websites employ over those that go stagnant or by design end up going backwards instead of forwards.
an 'old' saying inherent to everything we do today:
There's an App for That...
I see this hobby literally going into Hospice over the next 10 years... relegated to obscurity with only a handful of dedicated websites and obscure suppliers.
how many people do you know that still build scale models of boats with balsa?
You are making all this long argument over 2 simple extra clicks of a mouse, as helicopter pilot we have to deal with way more complicated things that require more brain power and comprehension, if I was confused and unable to navigate RR with this new format then I would seriously think about finding a new hobby, something with no common sense and no hand eye coordination requirements.
Happy RCing all.

with that attitude we would have never got Windows 95 and and instead would have been stuck with using DOS 6.21...

...that here tells me that you feel the risk of the ship sinking is very much a reality, thus the reason for site expansion. Casting a wider net does not necessarily mean more fish, especially without any bait... Casting in the right places at the right time does.

If your trying to build up site traffic why not put more effort into the Youtube channel you set up? then there you can provide a link to RR in the description. Granted such an endeavor requires nearly a full time effort to provide good content... two meh videos and no channel information is not going to grant you 'channelship'

Im not going to argue anymore. My hope is that RR stay around for a very long time, I had no issues with the single dedicated Heli site, and Im sure many didnt either, but many I would guess didnt see a need to add a parent site in which most of the current members have little to no interest in as a whole.

I'll end it with this... your trying to get cage free dogs, cats and hamsters to live together... gonna take alot of work... IMHO your spreading yourself too thin. I can tell your stressed by the tone of the posts too so I'll let it be.

Good Luck, I'll Always be a member of RR.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...
