Hey Folks, I'm converting my Freya to electric and want opinions on drive train and power.
For power, I will run 12s 5000mAH, cc 160hv.
I have the TMRF conversion with 11t pinion. I have both 95 and 93t main gears to choose and an older 4035 530kv scorpion.
So, can I run with what I have safely for a reasonable flight time with out shredding gears. (I will run a rx pack instead of bec.)
Thanks

I'd run 95T with a 9T pinion and a 500 KV motor.

Castle Link
Plug your info into the demo mode on the Castle site.. your ideal is running throttle at 90- 95%
It will let you calculate your hs's min and max.
With a soft spool up you should'nt have a problem shredding gears..
Good Luck..

Hey folks, after much research, I ditched the scorpion 530Kv and picked up a scorpion 5020-450Kv motor for my TMRF conversion. I have an 11 tooth pinion. I am choosing between 93t and 95t, as posted above, everything else is the same. What is the difference between the two gear ratios?
I have cc 160hv, 12s 5000mAh.
Low headspeed setup?

You can't run that setup on 12s for low head speed, even with the 450kv motor and the 95 main gear.

I'm not sure what head speed you are aiming for?

If it were me ide run it on 10s which will still get you upto fast 3D head speeds but could be governed to around 1600-1700. You would want 5s 6000mah packs.

8s would be where you would really gain flight time and still have a head speed upto around 1550 max or govern nicely to 1300-1400.

You would want 4s 7000-8000mah packs, there are plenty about thanks to the large camera drones. These would get you easily 20-30 minute flights.

These would work a treat if they were in stock!: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/multist...-lipo-pack.html

Electric Freya.
Thanks for that response. I will stick with a more normal headspeed, as I want to share packs with my Logo 550.

There is an exhaustive thread in this forum on Freya electric conversion. Do not use a 9t pinion. You will be at high risk for shredding the main gear OD under load. Seen that happen even with a 10t, but it's uncommon.

450kv with 10T works well on 12S.

Fair enough. As Ben said, a 10t pinion would be the way to go but remember to run as low as possible on the governor gain or limit max pitch to 12.

Thanks again for the response.
I will be running an 11t pinion and either a 93 or 95t main (delrin) with that 450kv motor.
Ill re-read the threads on gearing.

Didn’t want to hijack this so I’ve posted a related question in the scale forum. Same same but different!
