Official News Release from MSH:

We have only by chance found out that these metal houses were put on the market for Brain2 + BT:
https://mailchi.mp/lynxheli.com/new...61?e=dcb39640ed

We have not in any way authorized or collaborated in the marketing of these metal enclosures.

We inform users that we strongly advise against their use.

1) Use of a metal case may cause short circuits on the solder joints on the inside of the case, resulting in malfunction or worse, failure (also during a flight due to the vibrations transmitted to the circuit). Even if you use an insulating paint or insulating film, the natural vibrations that are always present in a helimodel and that can never be completely eliminated, can still be punctured.

2) The use of a metal case change the transmission of the model vibrations to the circuit compared to the plastic case, causing possible problems in the functioning of the Auto Level and Rescue.

3) The metal case, like a faraday cage, acts as a screen for Bluetooth signals and can therefore generate problems during parameter setup using Windows, Android, iOS apps via Bluetooth connection. It can also generate errors while updating the firmware via Bluetooth.

4) The use of metal houses never authorized by us, will cause the cancellation of the warranty.

5) Opening the enclosure and subsequent contact with the electronic circuit without suitable tools to cancel possible electrostatic discharges will resulting in malfunction or worse, device failure and cause the product warranty to be voided.

6) As we have no control over the positioning and closing of the electronics in the case, we cannot guarantee that the electronic board will move inside the case (immediately or due to loosening over time) or it misaligned or that the circuit breaks or cracks during tightening causing problems of malfunction in flight or during the use of the Auto Level and/or Rescue.

Meaning that the ikon 2 sold in the metal casing was never authorized? And that msh just found this out, when I'd noticed that the product is sold by Helidirect & others. Unreal, only after the purchase by an authorized dealer

The aftermarket metal cases being manufactured and sold by Lynx are unauthorized by MSH.

The old iKON / Brain (AKA: not Brain 2 or iKON 2) that were manufactured by MSH with metal cases did not have bluetooth and the PCB was designed for the metal case

If there was an "authorized" MSH re-seller that was re-packaging the iKON 2 into a Lynx metal case, I guess that is something the buyer would have to take up with that re-seller.

2 Things to keep in mind:
1) HeliDirect is the re-seller - not the manufacturer
2) The link you posted is "Out of Stock". Meaning: You cannot buy it at this time.

1) I know HeliDirect is the reseller. I also can plainly see that the product clearly has "Manufactured by MSH" printed on it.
2) Why does that matter? I was inquiring if MSH's own aluminum-cased product would safe to use. They're sending mixed signals.

Perhaps, if you start with the original post at the top of the page, this one sentence may help with your confusion.

The title of the post may also help:
** Notice to Brain2 with Bluetooth users ***
Note the word "Brain2". I think they also mean the iKON2
I was inquiring if MSH's own aluminum-cased product would safe to use.
MSH did not produce any aluminum-cased iKON 2 or Brain 2 (as far as I know).
You may be confusing the new iKON 2 and Brain 2 with the old iKON / Brain which were offered with the aluminum-case.
If you are confused about which MSH gyro you have have, if the logo on the case does not have a "2", it is the older gyro.
AFAIK: Those older gyros with metal cases are fine.

The product in the HeliDirect link I posted above is an iKON2 in an aluminum case. (You can clearly see the iKON2 logo on the case). The case also has "manufactured by MSH" printed on it.

Are you saying that MSH did not manufacture that product? If that is the case, why is HeliDirect still advertising it on their site? Surely MSH knows who their resellers are and what they are selling, right?
