I posted this message in the electric heli section ,but I reckon due to low traffic , I better do it here. Could someone recommend quality brand LiPo for my RAVE ENV 700 ,which would fit comfortably in the battery slot ? What discharge rating / capacity will be expected for a sports only flier? My motor is Scorpion 560 Kv and CC 120 Talon controller. How does one connect the two lipos together and with what connectors for batteries of this size?
Longevity is more important than ballistic performance .
Thanks in advance.

Thanks! What discharge(C) is sufficient for sports flier ? How many minutes would a 5000 mA pack give? Doesn't the Talon 120 have an included BEC ? I am only using old school digital servos ,not the 'HV' ones. What connectors to use ?Deans/ XT 60?

Thanks again

xt60 or ec5 connectors "no deans plugs" 30-45 c discharge rate and your looking at around 6-8 minutes at around 18-1900 HS i think. Its always a good idea not to rely on the speed controls internal bec. A failure of the speed control could send the full voltage of your batterys thru your receiver and fry all your electronics. and any bec less then 20 amps will not run all servos and flight controller without browning out. servos need about 3-4 amps a piece and flight controller needs a few amps to.

6.5mm Castle plugs are good and are not prone to disconecting easilly. The castle creation 8 awg wire is what I use. The series harnes is a good idea. you will still have to solder the bec to one 6 cell leg of the harnes.

Adapter
Progressive RC sells a Series adapter with their EC 5 Connectors for $5.
If you don't solder well, this is a good option.

Also their Spyder packs are great.

i would also suggest that you use the coupon you get with the castle talon 120 for a free castle link usb dongle so that you can take advantage of the talons governor, slow start and other handy functions.

As long as you stay with a battery that is ~45mm wide you will be fine for clearance between the frames.

Do you know what pinion size you have on the motor? For sport flying you won't need more than 1800 rpm and depending on your gearing you can use much lower C rated packs, certainly no need for anything above 30C.

60% of the time, it works every time!

I use SLS Quantum 5000 Mha 30 C for F3C pulling max 160 Amp. they are just fine and the Price is ok. They are German Lipo i dont know if you can get them at your place. but good lipos and 30 C will be enought. Flighttime F3C 7-8 minutes RPM 1900 Gearing 1 :9,75 Scorpion 4526
