I have never had that happen, but a bad ESC causes that.

What ESC was it?

I don't think those are known to catch fire often, pribably nothing you can do... I'm figuring it worked fine one flight, then caught fire the next. No preventative maintenance or inspecting will show that problem until it happens.

I would recomemd replacing with a quality ESC as most have overtemp and overamp shutoff. Maybe you have a bad motor that has shorted out and it overamped your ESC. I don't know your ESC well enough to know if it has that kind of shutoff. But if the slight posibility that your motor has a short, the Castle Creations Edge series of ESCs also have logging so you can plug into a PC and it will tell you why the ESC has shutoff and you can address that problem.
That is just a possibility though, only one I can think of causing a fire that may them cause another fire is you replace the ESC and go try again.

Actually they were many reports of fires with the early Trex 600e's and that ESC. Seen two of them burn with my own eyes let alone all the reports of them catching fire!

Get a Castle Talon, Hobbywing, Scorpion, Kontronik, YGE or even one of Aligns latest ESC's (actually hobbywing underneath) of at least 100A or 120A if you are 3Ding.
