Maybe they can get Taylormade or Ping to make some new hazard clubs? A lava wedge? A little like sand wedge but made out of Carbide?

When you live on a known Lava made Island you have to expect that every now and then. Great place to vacation but not all the time lol.

Got to have my cup of heli in the morning.

It's all about money...plain and simple. Safety and common sense go out the window when they affect the bottom line.

10 years from now, after they contract some unknown terminal illness, I expect to see one of those class action law suit commercials with the golfers trying to sue Hawaii for allowing them golf during an eruption and nobody telling them it was dangerous and potentially deadly.

But, if you were to tell them they couldn't golf during the eruption right now, they'd prolly be screaming about rights and that they should be able to golf if they want.

Idiots

It's all about - life goes on.

I've lost 5 friends this year, 3 of them in April and another yesterday. Superbugs got 3 of them. A simple but deadly complication of cancer treatment from a decade ago, a contaminated needle, a torn bowel,,, and just old for the other two. They were/are all wonderful people, and are missed, but each are being celibrated with a life party. I am looking forward to going to Colorado this weekend to BBQ and enjoy a few beers with my late buddy's friends. Share stories of his adventures... Mother Nature is a bitch, but life goes on.

The ghostly figure with a scythe is comming for me someday in the near future, till then i will live.

2low gets it, raising a morning shot glass in your direction sir.

If you can, enjoy your day. If some people are fussing about how you enjoy a few of those days you are probably doing it right.

The courses monitor conditions constantly. Even here they shut down courses for hours for frost delays to protect the grass, they sound the siren and everyone is recalled if lightning gets within some number of miles...

I am disapointed with you guys. Maybe i will just turn on the TV and watch a bunch of morons endlessly criticize the royal wedding gown, or the daily tweet, or something.

Like they closely monitored conditions with asbestos and lead paint? Just sayin...

But I do get what you are saying....really I do. Life does go on, but seriously, is golfing within 5 miles of an erupting volcano really necessary? There's all kinds of gases and who knows what else they are breathing in that could very well kill them slowly and/or quickly.

There are times when "business as usual" isn't prudent or smart. I would like to think a volcanic eruption is one of those times.

And if they DO feel the need....then that's a choice they made on their own. Do not come back years later after contracting some horrible respiratory disorder from breathing in all the volcanic junk and try and say it was the business's or Hawaii's fault they are sick after the fact.

Hehehehe, I used to wear an absbestos suit and gloves for a few years. We had to swich to fiberglass in the mid 1980s. All the guys in the foundry got a laugh out of it. We started wearing resperators because the fiberglass could not take the heat. The air was filled with little flying specs of fiberglass. Much bigger hazzard than the absbestos was to us.

One of the best days i ever had was hanging around at a hot spring water spa at the base of an active volcano in Costa Rica. Mt Arinal (?) They had a bunch of hot spring pools. One of them had a swim up bar. we floated around, drank, and watched the lava flow. We were almost a mile away (too far away ) Still, it is one if my favorite days. Before i die i would like to get one of those abestos suits and go poke a stick in some lava.

Maybe hit a few golfballs into the mouth of a volcano?

All this talk about hoping someone dies, and law suits... that is no mind set to live in. Folks should enjoy a day on their own terms once in a while.

I don't wish anything bad to happen to anyone.

I'm all for enjoying life to the fullest, but not meaningless and unnecessary risk taking . I have just seen how those things end sometimes....live care free and wild and do what they want until something bad happens...then, find the first person closest them to blame because it was not their own fault. That's not a mindset to live in either my kind sir.

Now that sounds like more fun that golfing dangerously close to a live volcano, spewing molten lava and sulfur dioxide just to get a selfie for your FB page.

Amen to that Spiff. I'm taking my three girls (wife, daughter, grand daughter) to the big flea market in Canton. I going to see if they can spend all my money before the heat overtakes them...I'm betting on the girls. I don't care how hot it gets, you can't beat the fun I'll have with my favorites.
