If the washers bind, you could always bend them outwards a bit. Make a jig by drilling a shallow hole with a 5/16" drill bit. Sharpen the end of a punch to the same angle. Put your washer in the hole you drilled and smack it with the sharpened punch. The washer will conform to the angle of the bottom of the hole you drilled.

I asked my wife why she moved the camera at the last moment? She was like, humm I don't know...why you asking? I said, the best part is actually seeing the carnage!

stock wire guide works fine. I saw the rod your using dangling while pirouetting, bummer. cannot find the original get some music wire from K&S and sullivan solder threaded ends they have 2/56 and 4/40 for your ball links that you could convert on the tail.

Apparently it is human instinct to look at disasters with the eyes, not continue to look at the carnage thru a device (camera/cellphone), thus dropping the image off screen when it happens.
Often happens on youtube of accidents.

Raptor ball link control balls were notoriously known by me to wear out and deform in short order making it very easy for the link to pop off. I was putting washers on my tail rods after finding the control ball at the tail box to constantly wear out the fastest. Maybe due to the material and or how badly the link fit the control balls themselves combined with the higher vibrations felt at the end of the boom.

Ball and links
Can I buy some allen screws for the ball link fasteners? Anyone know the exact pitch and thread?

High rate of wear may also be caused by where we fly. In dry dusty areas our machines really kick up a lot of dust on take off and landings. I always looked for a grassy spot to take off, but that is not always an option.

That was one of the smoothest pirouettes I have ever seen!

Curtice Youngblood used to do pirouettes that were almost as smooth as that. His landings were a little softer though.

Sorry. Hope the damage wasn't too bad.

I panic when I saw that link pop off. I if I would have hit throttle hold, the heli would have auto safely to the ground. I just wasn't ready for unexpected crisis.

Next time, that won't be an issue....throttle hold would be hit quickly.

Yelling at the heli works for Chuck Norris.

So far my results are about the same as yours.

You’re not by chance relying on those cheesy screws to attach the balls to the arms, are you ???

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Humm...yeah I am! Why didn't you say something else earlier? Is there another options such as using mikado metal balls/Ball links/screws?

I have some rocket city fasteners links.
