Guys.. I just received the Torque tube upgrade kit for my 470L Dominator build (Cost me $52 Plus ship). However, I see that the rod is bent at one end... Does it matter IE: Will it straighten out when installed into to boom, or should I just send the whole thing back to the seller, and get a replacement from him..

Oh, I see why. The bloody packaging box is crumpled in a bit at one end...

Any shaft drive I’ve ever dealt with needs to be straight otherwise it will cause vibration and wreak havoc with the gyro .....

Send it back if you can....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Ok I sure will Thanks...

Oh, I just looked at all the 470L parts that I have, and I do have just the Align Trex 470LT Torque Tube (H47T026XX), so I won't have to send the package back.. The rod cost me just $8.00.. Phew!!

One more thing.. I know that you have to glue the bearing to the rod about 1 inch from the center.. Towards the front, or the back.. Does it matter which
way...

Like I mentioned in another post, you’re going in too many directions at the same time .....

Choose one thing, put it together, set it up, FLY IT and get comfortable with it . Once mastered, move to the next .

And that will keep your wife off your back , at least temporarily .....

That doesn't look like genuine Align packaging to me?! I'm pretty sure their torque tubes come inside a plastic tube to stop them getting bent?

What was wrong with the belt drive anyway?!

60% of the time, it works every time!

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to be the one to start that war.

Classic example of:

A belt is very ideal and efficient

And much more forgiving if you inadvertently put the tail into the ground.... with belt, usually no issues.... with shaft drive, usually means stripped gears, more parts ordered, more wasted time and money......

UK,
I would definitely leave it as a belt driven heli and finish putting it together and FLY the darned thing !! Your wife will definitely love you for not spending all that money on unnecessary what would you say , "upgrades" ??

Well too late now Juan.. You see I didn't buy the belt stuff, because the heli is being built with all the parts that I bought (Not a heli kit or combo), so in goes the Torque Tube.. But guess what.. The eBay seller sent me a refund of $53 without seeing it or wanting it back. YEAH!!!... Now what should I use the money for, as for me wife.. I'm now out of the dog house. But I had to promise not to buy anything hobby related till Christmas (She doesn't know that I bought all the heli parts to build one (She just saw lot's of PayPal payments on my credit card (oops)), and you have to be on me side because "SHE" does to Vegas twice a year with a friend (I don't)..

Now, (Once finished).. I'll be able to fly it like I stole it (heard of that saying).... On, One more thing.. I bought a bunch of EMAX digital ES09MD 9g Metal Gear Servos, any good for this heli... But can't remember what the make is for the tail servo (It has all alloy case)...

If you don't have the belt drive stuff, don't bother buying it. Build her as a torque tube and fly the snot out of it. There is just no advantage to convert a perfectly good belted tail to torque tube. You don't seem to have that problem.

Yes, I never did buy the belt driven stuff, as the Torque Tube kit came with the main gear, and some carbon fiber part also (All set up ready to go in), and That's why I bought it.. However.. Since the boom is a bit longer than the 460L heli.. I think that the tube should be running in 2 bearings instead of just one (I can fix that)....

If you accidentally stick the tail into the high grass / turf during a landing then yes.....

Based on the videos you’ve posted stating that your flying style is similar, I would say that you’ll need a couple of extra gear sets on hand ..... both front and rear gear sets ...just trying to save you some down time .....

Just don’t tell your wife !!!

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....
