Yep I also like the green, much better than the yellow on the 700. I hope they keep the traditional black and white blades aswell.

Although I've never seen one, green has been an option for the 700XN for a while. http://www.aligntrexstore.com/700XN...072_p_5029.html

A few people weren't too happy about the yellow on the 700XN, they do listen Align you know! Maybe if we bang on about it enough they will ditch the multi gear drive train!

Really?
The most radical thing anyone can come up with about the "new" model is the color of the canopy?

They only had 1 simple job.
The only items on the 600N I wanted to see was moving the fuel tank forward and redesign it to hold more fuel. Include the elevator servo adapter. Include a cnc clutch bearings holder.
Either than that it is a very good design.

But of course they redesign the wheel and ruined the recipe.

I suppose everyone wants something different. I want direct to swash and the tank under the main mast. The combination of these two necessitate moving the engine forward. Belts are an option but Align took a different path.

I like my 700XN and see no issue with transferring the technology to a smaller version.

It will be a great heli for sure. I wonder if there's a change to the gear ratio? 8.5:1 dates back to Raptor 50's with OS50SX (non hyper)! 8:1 would be cool!

Everyone wants "direct to swash" but bell cranks make a servos life longer IMHO. Ive been flying my two Current 600Ns for over six years, of course no parts are that old......But its a rare rash that calls for servo gears..

Just seen a pic on the Align site that it is now released, the canopy is yellow, thought it looked good in green.

The 600XN may ship with a yellow canopy but if the 700XN is any indication, there will be a green canopy available.

Personally they should have done it the other way round, it should ship with the green and the yellow should be optional!

While I'm here, can pure black canopy screens please make a come back!

At this point I'm pretty happy that canopies come painted at all. Because I remember a time when every kit came with a white canopy and it took an additional $100 (or more) for painting (and a month+ to get), I'm pretty happy I can add-to-cart for about $85 bucks and have it in 5 days. It wasn't that long ago a crash would cost $250 and 5 weeks to get a canopy back on my toy.

It is to get the engine further forward for better balance and to get the tank under the main shaft so there is no difference in balance as the tank empties. They could have achieved the same with a larger main and pinion gear but that means a wider canopy and more frame cut out which would make it weaker and more flexible.

The "Whats with the whacky idler gear drive train" was a last minute change to the Trex 700XN after their test-pilots puked all over the "new" Trex 700xn with the old engine / fuel tank location.

It is such a bad idea, they decided to use it on a "new" Trex 600XN.

The Trex 700XN is burning up the gears and there will be a V2 coming soon.
Followed by a V3.
Then, maybe a Trex 700XXN (or some other BS marketing ploy)

The way to "fix this" is to use a belt (like the Goblin 700BN or the Synergy) and not a bigger gear. The bigger main gear makes the heli's canopy way too wide.

Burning up gears!?!? I didn't know any of this. My 700XN has been 100% reliable and I only once in a while dab a little grease on the main gear. I do so at about the same interval that I lube the tail pitch slider. My gears are in pristine condition. With your experience, what should I be looking for to indicate impending failure? How many gear sets have you been through on your heli? Did you notice any sound or unusual gear wear prior to failure? I'm alarmed by your statement.

What intel to do you have about the V2 or even the V3? Any pictures or release date?

I don't like belts. Do you have any other fixes? I specifically didn't buy a Goblin because I don't want belts on a daily flyer. Given that belts are out, what else should we look for?

What do you think Synergy will do when they release a new heli? They will have the same balance issue. Think they will go with a belt or big gear on their next offering?
