Glow Engines:

1) Set idle trim to center "0"
2) Set your travel to full close and fully open for throttle on engine
3) Go to mix and select "5"
4) Set "Normal" Inh/Inh to Thr>Thr
5) Rate -100/-100 Offset -100
6) Select Switch "I" as a momentary on/off
7) Set your idle on engine using idle trim tab until it idles normal
8) Set up your throttle hold and adjust until it matches your idle speed
9) Pay attention and double check to make sure it behaves...then hit kill switch....motor should die insantly...it over rides idle modes of N, S1, S2...does not over ride throttle hold.

Enjoy!

Very dangerous kill switch for non electric applications.

Throttle hold feels better for glow /Gas helis.

Why is it dangerous? I said it doesn't override throttle hold. It is nice that I don't have to do anything, such as pinch fuel line or push idle tab to bottom to cut engine off. I just press a button and motor dies instantly.

What is so dangerous about that?

I have always set a throttle hold and a kill switch on my gas and nitro models. Futaba includes it in their programming.

Futaba thinks more and covers the subject of modelers better.

Spektrum DX6 to Dx9...don't know about the DX18---and up?

I have moved on to a newer radio Graupner MZ18. We will see how that goes. Figured I would add a kill switch to help out folks. If you know what you are doing, then it is not dangerous.

You people have helped me out so many times, I wanted to give something back.

Add more to subject....
If you use my method of kill switch.

I can see why some people can get confused....let us cover the basics once again.

1) Auto-rotation, you hit throttle hold to ON position (after it is set up properly). Motor should return matching your idle speed set. Once you reach the ground, flip idle mode to normal and throttle stick to lowest, before you turn throttle hold to OFF position.

2) My kill switch requires you to land the helicopter. Spool down the blades, throttle stick to lowest point and idle modes returned to normal. Throttle hold switched to OFF position. Once you complete the sequences, then hit the kill switch. Viola.. motor shuts off without pitching fuel line or moving the idle switch to lowest point.

Now if you can't understand what I just described, please avoid using my method and go pitch your fuel line with throttle hold enabled.

DX6 Kill Switch Photo
As you can see, you have to GO out of your WAY to kill the engine.

The black button needs to be pressed far before the motor dies.

OK.. I Think I misunderstood your explanations.

When I go to autos, I flip to throttle hold and all the way down, with motor in idle, I enjoy the ride...

When I finished My turn, I flip throttle cut and motor dies... Simple.

In a crash badly, when radio doesn't do the job, I have an emergency kill switch on my Gasser, operated by a long wood stick...

But having a kill switch on my TX, that can be operated in any circumstance is dangerous.

So, your job is equivalent to throttle cut, so no problem whatsoever.
