Of course you hear the engine sound but I also immediately also notice how slow the transmission is. I've gotten used to modern race transmissions clicking through up shifts and down shifts in milliseconds.

The Porsche museum is in Stuttgart. Seeing the cars sitting is one thing. Seeing and hearing them move is another. Thanks for sharing.

Not so much slowness of the 'box, but it they were "brutal" straight cut dog boxes- no synchromesh. Upshifts not a problem as you can hear, but downshifts the driver had to blip the throttle to up the revs with clutch in , to match the revs for the lower gears being engaged. Otherwhile the rear wheels will lock , especially as this happens under heavy braking
And with those 1000hp engines that could be brutal .
On my race car with a 6 speed sequential box , the upshifts engine cut is 45 millisecs = That is 0.045 secs - flat throttle and no clutch . Downshifts still with clutch - Have to go through the gears , can't skip gears like with a H-pattern shift - But electrickery does the cut and blip
