Hi everyone, I recently acquired a used wren 54 in a Bergen intrepid.
First off it has a propane gas bottle but seems like it won’t hold enough to keep the startup process going. So I have to keep the remote propane bottle attached. The adjustment is about two turns out on propane.

Second, it’s hit and miss with the start up. Starts up and sometimes just shuts down. Other times it will idle about 45k and then upon half throttle it shuts down. And thirdly, if I can get it to actually spool up, it will shut down on deceleration.

Turbine temps get no more than 600c max.
•Accelerate delay is 033
•decel delay is 060
•Stability delay is 040
•Pump start point is auto+2
•Pump start ramp was 006 then changed to 009
•Glow plug power is 034

Futaba transmitter programmed but I do not get a green light like the manual says once done. It’s version 3.9
And also it doesn’t look like there is fluid going through the line for the gear box.

What kind of propane can/bottle are you using to fill the onboard one? Are you holding it upright or upside down?

You may need to actually Empty the onboard tank, as it may be full of liquid, not enough space leftover for the gas needed to push the liquid to the engine. To completely empty it, you'll need to turn it upside down and disconnect the hose...

This may also cure your starting problem...

If you want to call so I can talk you through the throttle setup, 404-210-1501.

At an idle, you will typically NOT see much fluid going through the line to the gearbox. At higher RPM's it is DEFINITELY moving fuel/oil. It's just hard to see wen you're at hovering RPM..

Hi Chris,
I am using those small green camping propane bottles. I tried right side up and upside down and I can only hear a small amount go into it. Like not even enough for a start. And of coarse have to keep the bottle on in order for it to complete start up.
I took the bottle out when I was putting new fuel line in and it seemed light and empty. When it starts up it starts fast also.
I can give you a call on Tuesday when I get off work. I won’t be back home to program it until then.

If they're the ones I'm thinking of, that's the wrong stuff.

What we usually use is a propane/butane mix, like a 70/30 blend.

I'll get a picture for you.

Yeah I have the larger green can and bought the screw on adapter from dreamworks to hook up to those bottles. I can get those small ones also but will it still attach to those small bottles?
Just also stumps me on why it shuts down on deceleration once.
And it will shut down halfway on start up but sometimes also shuts down after idling for a short time. I’m not home until Tuesday mid day but will try the small can propane mix if my adapter still hooks up to it.

I believe the tops are different, unfortunately.

I still suggest emptying the onboard bottle. You don't have to remove it from the aircraft, you can connect the fill hose to it and turn the whole aircraft upside down. I think you'll be surprised how much liquid comes out....

I’ll try it and see what happens. And keep you up to date. And I’ll give you a call on programming the throttle tomorrow.
Did you get my voicemail about the two boom clamps I needed? I needed to order a second one since one was cracked.
