I have 3 older helis that I want to upgrade the electronics to just to make them a little more capable and to get away from 72Mhz, they are Schluter Superior, Junior and mini-boy (and maybe later a Magic if I can find a tail rotor).
First let's talk about my choice of radio. Option one would be a Walkera (either Devo 8 or 12) because I have them already, and I have the telemtery equipment as well. The problem is that I can not figure out how to change the settings to get rid of the CCPM mixing. If anyone knows how I can chane these radios to work with mechanical mixing please explain that, I really do want to know.
The other option would be the Turningy i10, again, because I have one already, have the telemetry equipment and I think the i10 has settings where I can take out the CCPM mixing.
Now for the questions...
Will the receivers for these radios handle the power that the servos will need to move these big helis around ? Would I need to get something like a AR7300BX receiver (Can use Deviation firmware on Walkera radios or I do have a DX7 sitting here also, but no telemetry gear) to handle the power needs?
And I'd like to put some form of gyro stabilzer (3 or 6 axis) in it, but do the helicopter stabilizers have anything to do with the CCPM mixing - will it mix in the pitch servo while trying to hold level? My guess is it will, in which case the follow up question would be, is there any brand of stabilizer that will work without CCPM - or could I just use an airplane stabilizer...?
