Hi all, after a decade of being out of the hobby, more like 12 years now, I finally decided to get back into it. I used to fly nitro helis of course back then so the e-flight and FBL is all new to me.

I have figured out the Idle Ups where you need to have a flat curve of whatever percentage you need to get the desired head speed. The question I have is what to do about Normal mode? Is it still being used? If so, what do the throttle curves look like with electric helis and what pitch range does one use on Normal mode?
Thanks in advance

If you have the flat curves figured out for idle up-1 and 2, you're 90% there. I suppose others do something different but I uses governor mode in normal too.

I set up flat a "curve" in normal just like I would for idle-1 or 2 but the very first point has to be zero so the governor is off when the stick is down. Moving the stick from "idle" quickly moves the "curve" to a flat value telling the governor to engage. At that point the spool-up is controlled by whatever gov you're using. From there the gov stays engaged until I'm on the ground again and pull the "throttle" below the value where the "curve" is flat.

Make and sense? Clear as mud?

For my Diabolo 700 with Kontronik 160 esc, I use all flat curves in my Vcontrol radio. For normal I’m at 55%, bank1 65%, bank2 70 or 75% flat curve. My Triabolo with Kosmik 200 is the same and Diabolo 550 with hobby wing 120 same flat curves and Compass 6hvu with Align 130 hv esc, also flat curves. I know Castle creations esc’s you also use flat curves, not sure on YGE or the smaller Kontronik esc’s.

Sorry. I see you asked about pitch. I use the same pitch curves for all flight modes. It's just easier that way. Contest fliers will be able to give you better advice for dedicated hover modes.
