No, it's not some bloody gory mess where I caught my tie and it pulled me and shredded me.
I usually check all envelopes before I put them in my shredder to check for metallic objects that will pizz off my shredder.
Well I got an envelope from some church wanting money for some sort of relief effort. I did open it but I didn't unfold the letter all the way and hidden in it was a thin metal medallion which promptly choked my crosscut shredder but good. It took a full hour to disassemble and remove the chewed up metal piece of cr-p.
So guys, before shredding anything, make sure there is no coins or metal enclosed.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Been there and done that with metal going through a shredder some years ago. For my last shredder purchase I bought a very HD crosscut one that will shred metal objects up to the size of a penny or so. Nickels and quarters won't quite go through but they don't jam it as there is some kind of slip clutch that kicks in. Paperclips and such pose no problems.

Yep, mine is a heavy duty crosscut with a motor the size of a small engine starter motor. It didn't damage anything but I couldn't get to it because of the entry plastic chute which curves downward and prevented me from seeing or reaching the metal scrap, the machine would detect overload (Jam) backup releasing the metal, but then go forward again causing another jam overload. After 3 tries it would shut down completely.
Disassembly removed the offending trinket, then all was fine again.
The piece is steel (checked with magnet) plated with gold looking surface.

I get fliers in the mail for junk I don't need, and don't want, I call the companies and complain about their fliers, I tell them "not to send them because it cost me money to throw their junk away"

LOL BTW, I have thanked them for telling me they will stop sending them,, but they still do

In the past when it includes a prepaid return envelope, I stuff their stuff back and then some other junk mail and sent it back to them.

And sometimes I would fill out the forms with fake information and bogus credit card or bill me later.
