If I remember correctly, the maximum head speed for wooden 550-600mm blades is 1800 RPM. I'd go with carbon fiber blades as soon as I could.

Hmm... As Brady said, I'd stick with 1,800 or less.

Consider this. If you are just learning to hover, woodies are fine. They are good enough and affordable. And if you are just hovering, you don't need high head speed. You also won't likely see the benefit of carbon blades.

At some point you will want to move beyond hovering. At that point you may see some improvement in helicopter performance by switching to carbon blades at which point your question is moot.

On a 30 / 50 size (550mm to 600mm) symmetrical wood blades should be limited to around 1600 or so.

Faster headspeeds will risk "woof and poof" where a blade starts to flutter (woof) and within an instant, disintegrates (poof).
