Hi,
I just converted my Trex600N from FB to FBL and I already have an Align 3GX FBL gyro. Before I start anything I like to get some help regarding how to connect this 3GX with my Spektrum DX7 radio. Receiver is a AR7000. Also, do I have to run a separate governor ?. Currently, I have installed already Aerospire Multigov with Spectrum Back plate sensor. Can I still use this sensor and where do I connect to it in 3GX.

Is all above is good combination or shall I go for some other FBL?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Arshad

I would use another FBL unit

Perhaps a spirit pro or ikon they have built in governors and are vibration resistant. And they use satellites instead of the whole rx

spending time, paying attention

There is nothing wrong with using a 3GX.
But make sure it have been updated to the latest software. I am not sure what it is, but you are going to need a PC and a USB adapter for it.

Then, I suggest using 2 of the DSM2 satellite receivers instead of the "traditional" AR7000 receiver. This makes the wiring easier.
It also allows you to use the 3GX's governor instead of the Multigov.
The Multigov's sensor should work fine with the 3GX, but you are going to need an adapter to connect it to the 3GX's gov port and I think you ave to swap the red and black wire (don't worry, you cannot burn out the sensor or the gov port if it isn't right)

If the DX7 has been upgraded, I would use the SPM9645 DSMX satellite receivers.

Once these two are done, just bind the DX7 to the receivers and you are ready to get started with the setup.

The biggest single difference between the 3GX and other flybarless is that all the basic setup is done in the transmitter. The swash-type, the servo setup, the swash setup, the tailrotor - all that is setup in the transmitter.
The 3GX is basically a stability augmentation gyro. It was designed for an existing Align customer with a flybar equipped Trex to transition easily to a flybarless head without making huge changes in their setup.

If you saved the model setup for the FB equipped T600N in the DX7, then that is the starting point for the 3GX FBL setup.

But, if you decided to move to something newer, I would go with the MSH gyros (brand name: Brain 2 or iKON 2).
I your DX7 supports the DSMX, I would use a Spektrum SPM-4649T "quad-copter" receiver and 2 Spektrum SPM9645 DSMX satellite receivers.
This allows the SPm4649T to be connected to the MSH gyro using the SRXL interface and the 2 satellite receivers are connected to the gyro's satellite connectors.
This is triple-redundant and gives you an opportunity to try telemetry when you decide to get a newer Spektrum transmitter

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear.
Fake News will be the downfall of our Republic!
