Why does everyone sound like a pitchman these days?

The op asked for a recommendation. Of course everyone is selling what they think is the best

Well, I apologize. I suppose it caught me in a weak moment.

I've become weary of every time someone asks, "What should I consider", the answer feels like, "________. Simply the greatest. Buy what I'm selling. It's the best. Nuff said."

I've come to believe shills, stooges, hucksters, confidence men, barkers, reps, pitchmen, hawkers, etc. are killing the hobby.

"Decent Nitro 50 size?" Good question. "I've been happy with ____", or "have you considered?" would be acceptable. "Buy ____ because they are the best", not so much.

Anyway. I'm sorry if I came across as testy. I need to burn more fuel and type less. That's my fault and I apologize.

Cheers,

Bill

I am not even allowed to make those types of recommendations on here based on my signature line. Some of us are reps for the right reasons, we believe in a product and want to see it grow. Some will take what they can get and move on to the next brand. I would love to rep for MKS, Kontronik and Thunder Power batteries but doing so would really limit my ability to praise them on forums

It would be an n556 for me also if I was in the market for one. Easily stretched to a 600. Unlike new Align helis the n556 prototype had over 1000 test flights before going into production!

Is there something that I'm not supposed to like about the Align?

When I first started in the Hobby, the old brands had been around forever and new brands were getting a toe hold in the market. Boy has that changed! Parts for some brands are difficult or impossible to find now. I fly the brand I do because the quality is good AND I believe parts will be readily available for a long time. That’s important to me. I don’t want to be stuck with a devalued chopper that I can’t source parts for.

I also like to keep parts on hand. If I have more than one heli, even different sizes, it’s nice if they have common parts. Less parts on the shop wall and less money tied up in them.

Finally, it’s nice to have a broad support base for the brand you choose. Everyone has questions from time to time.

Not at all, although a friend is asking my advice about seized one way bearings and when researching the issue it would seem it was quite wide spread. Then there is the fact they aren't direct servo to swash, but that's not really a problem as such. The Trex 600n is kind of old and obsolete at the moment with the new 600xn coming out and when/if it does you have to decide if you're happy with the maintenance of all those pinions!

Some can share their opinions on a decent nitro based on their experience and leave it at that while others just can't.

I read two IF in one sentence.
Do you know something no else does...yet?

I say IF because it's uncertain whether Align will be doing a 600xn. There was a leaked picture of one but that was a while ago and nothing has been heard of since, I think?
