Hi guys,

This is a video of my 4s YE 115. Had a bad crash and I think the crankshaft is slightly bent. Opinions.

Turning
Move that dial to the edge or closer to the edge of crankshaft and see if the dial moves more than the back does. This will confirm a bent crankshaft.

The dial traveled further, so it is bent!

Repaired it?

Prove it by dial turning at both locations to see if it is really repaired! You know science and all?! LOL

Also the wobble at the prop nut has almost totally gone meaning that the bend has been rectified at the base too

Put a prop on it and check for vibration?

Hope you removed the crank before whacking it. If not now you have damaged bearings

Can not fix that part with a hammer. It is just how that part is made. It is case hardened. If it was not it would have bent with a start shaft.

Well after hammering I can't tell there is a run-out visually but before I could, so something has changed.

On my Heli YS engines the runout is .003 at the tip. I can't believe YS would supply a part with .005 runout at the base, and .015 at the tip. After hammering the runout, at least at the tip, is reduced to .006

The plane went into a tree during a dead stick, and the prop (composite) snapped in half, so that means the crankshaft took the brunt of the blow
