Folks I’m getting back into hobby and looking for a stabilization unit for a flybarred gas heli. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've had pretty good luck with the Spartan Quark gyro.

I like to use anything with a remote sensor for optimal low vibration positioning.

What are you looking for exactly? You say stabilization on a flybar. Most FBL units aren’t designed to be run with a fly bar but can still be atail gyro by turning the gains all the way down on the head. Spirit specifically says it’s designed to work with flybars and is great on gas helis. I’ve never used it with a flybar but with a flybarless head it works great.

Flybarred helis are something of a niche part of the hobby these days and as such, tail only gyro development has ended. Most of my remaining flybarred helis have Futaba 701s. It was/is probably the best tail only gyro ever developed.

I have also used Spartan gyros and still have 2 installed. They too perform very well and are much more affordable. http://www.spartan-rc.com/products/quark/quark.php

Because flybarred helis are past their prime, very often you can find tail only gyros used and in good/new condition at a very fair price.

I should have started with this... I don't have a gasser so I can't personally say how these gyros will perform in your application. I can say I've seen many people have very good success with these gyros in gas helicopters.

Gy401... My kind of gyro for Helis with mechanical flybar.

It worked with no issues on my spectraG 26cc.

I believe the Bavarian Demon 3X/3SX/Axon will work with flybarred helis.

+1 Bavarian Demon

I use the Helicommand HC3 Base. (Discontinued)
Pre "Bavarian" name change

An excerpt from the Axon manual...
Of course, the AXON remains perfectly suitable for all kinds of helicopter, no matter whether flybared or flybarless, trainer or scale helicopter (twin- and multi-bladed), as well as flybarless helicopters such as turbine powered trainers, etc.. The AXON can be used without limit for all different power unit types, no matter whether electric, nitro or gas, as well as for gas turbines too.

I’ve used a Spartan DS760 very successfully for many years on my Radikal G20.

I obviously didn’t read the flybar bit, in that case;

Futaba GY401 if you don’t require a governor and hour meter and the GY701 if you do.

Both excellent units.
