Your denial of differences in people does sound deluded. My inclusion of the differences in race, gender and people is what makes things interesting.
Sounds like your nerve is the one that is tender. Who in the hell wants to hang out with people that are exactly like yourself??
No doubt you are smart, you fly RC helis. The most fickle creature in RC.

The military is composed of many types and sizes of people that work together as a team. Hence my comments about common goals. But the victim, race & gender card doesn't suit you.

In my opinion, if allowed to have one. Stick to the strong, smart and resourceful woman card. I didn't even bring up the military badass card.

a women I know had a big argument with her boy friend, he is the father of her child, she is White, he is Black, she is from Vermont and he is from the middle of NY City,,, she was so upset I had to go to her apartment and take her to the hospital, after the psychologist got the women calmed down, the psychologist asked me where the boy friend was from, when she was told NY City, she said (quote) "people from the City do not understand how Vermonters think",

yes that goes both ways, but, let that set in a while

I am not saying that there are not differences between people. I am saying that the century old differences touted for treating people a certain way i.e skin tone, are too superficial to be of use. And that superficiality is what is used to relegate certain people to the bottom rungs of society.

To say that someone doesn't have the right type of personality to work in a certain career field is one thing. Let's say...they are not a people person so they probably won't do well in a customer service position. But to say that someone isn't smart or is not allowed to strive to better themselves merely based on skin tone or where they are from is not a valid reason say they aren't deserving or can be treated less humanely.

And that was the true intent of the "N". A label to dehumanize an entire group of people to justify bypassing their own laws that all men were created equal thus, allowing them to be morally free to treat another human as livestock with no rights as an individual.

Meeting different people can be fun...that's why I come to RR. I'd rather talk about helis, but talking about difficult subject matter is challenging but its a why to learn about someone's else's perspective.

At first, I thought my husband (who is "black" ) was be over dramatic about how he described being treated racially throughout his life...until I started seeing first hand what he had to go through. Most of the time he didn't even have to do much to be called a "stupid N" or treated like a criminal...even by some people on base. I'm not even exaggerating. You'd be surprised...or not. But to say he always pulling the race card isn't exactly accurate.

I come here to find out why people on all sides feel the way they do. It's not easy to talk about but it is interesting and sometimes it leads to good relationships. I don't expect everyone to hold hands and pretend there's not problems in the world, but to pretend there's no such thing as discrimination because you, yourself have never been the victim of such things is disingenuous.

I'd still fly with you though

That's a very valid point and makes sense. And it was because he was from the city...you didn't say they argued because he of his skin tone. Sounds like they an observation based the person...not his skin tone or the group.

Like I said...differences based on an individual's perception and upbringing is one thing. But the problem lies where the actions of one person and it's applied to an entire group just because the look similar is another. And yes it goes both ways.

That is unsubstantiated rhetoric.

Its basically saying the man is keeping me down! so I will stay in the gutter.

Its horse crap.

Anyone can quit drugs and get a job, and turn themselves around. YOU are blaming society for a persons social status, and I find it pathetic.

Unsubstantiated?

Slavery? Apartheid? The Tuskegee project? (and no, not the Tuskegee Airmen one either), the Black Wall Street bombings? I could go on for days, but I think you get the point.

All of these are well documented and factual events that were perpetrated by people who hated other people superficially based on their skin.

You should read up more on your own history. But I'll admit, I didn't know either. I was raised in the Philippines and spent a lot of time in Panama. My school books about US history barely skimmed over that part of history. They painted a more rosey picture about those times.

I'm not saying that "the man" is the sole reason certain people don't move up in society, but you can clearly see how society can have a negative impact.

not "moving up" in society has everything to do with personal choice rather than the indirect actions of others...

and choice is everything to do with attitude.

with the internet and its near ubiquitous ability access to the information contained... there is nearly zero reason to blame others for ones failure to succeed at nearly anything... from cleaning a toilet to fixing a jet engine, to understanding legal lingo.

therefore having a looser attitude will only net a looser life in this society.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I have to say my rise to slightly above average is very clearly due to my great great great great great great grandfather. He was pretty great.

There was no need for me to get an engineering degree, and a few patents, avoid insulting my boss, work a lot of saturdays,,, and all the crap. it was all handed to me on a silver colored TV dinner tray.

Unfortunately today, the black community at large, is embarrassing themselves keeping the negative stereotype more than just alive.

The bad ones are ruining it for the good ones. Its not because of white on black hatred or racism. It is because so many blacks are gang members or criminals. Today they bring this all in on themselves.

There is a reason why the most dangerous cities in the USA are black or latino. Ignoring it or in your case denying it, helps keep the problem a problem. First thing you do to correct a problem is admit it. You fail there.

Hating bad people of any color does not mean one is a racist just because the criminal is of color. It means some people hate scumbags no matter what color they are.

I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

That's not even what ticks me off, its just sad.

What really bothers me is how racist the group is as a whole. For the last few years the majority rally around their criminals who commit crimes, resist arrest and get shot and killed while being criminals. How many? burned their own cities down and looted because a filthy criminal was shot while resisting arrest? Almost the whole black community is in an uproar when a felonious criminal is rightfully killed. Bad thing is liberal politicians feed this behavior letting all colors of people act like animals telling police to stand down and let the criminals take over.

It all could have been stopped with proper use of force.

Did you not superficially treat this person a certain way "probably smarter than some meat headed muscle brain. That's pretty simple to figure out."

Wow hypocrisy much?

I believe in that video they were hoping to start a race riot in the courtroom and perhaps outside when the news of their shenagins were broadcast.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

the most dangerous cities in the US is relative. If you are a minority, the most dangerous cities might be full of people who support the KKK or some crazy white power movement. Get my point?

...this should read more like "the most dangerous cities for non minorities is full of blacks and Latinos."

But your cherry picked video is an extreme case to prove your point of how dangerous black people are and is not the norm.

Was the point of this one video to prove that black people as a whole have a propensity for belligerent, disruptive disobedience? And if so, does that justify all black and brown people being treated with distain and disregard by the rest of the population? I think not.

These idiots are just some dumb ass, out of control teenagers with no respect for anyone. They just so happen to be black and somehow, that means that all blacks act this way. And yes, they all deserve to be nailed by the justice system. THEY alone, should pay for their stupidity and I take no issue with that.

But NOT every other black person someone comes across acts that way even if they are from the "hood." My hubby does not act like that but he is routinely lumped in just for looking like a young black man when he's not in is uniform.

What I'm trying to say is I here this blanketing tone that all black people act like this is far from the truth. Blanketed bias is bad for everyone no matter who you are and serves no purpose but to make a bad situation worse.

I notice when ever I make a valid point that is hard to refute, people try to side-step the true obvious fact of what I'm try to say with trivial equivocations and/or name calling.

In this case, my phrasing was hypothetical and even IF I meant it as you have taken it, it would have been directed to that individual and would have had no detriment to said "meat head." Because even if I had bias for "meat heads." that bias could not affect their ability to be treated justly under the law as "non meat heads", it would not affect their ability to have fair housing and work opportunities and would not affect his ability to have credit extended to him.

That is what racism is...it's not the fact that people have racial bias; it becomes racism when a one person or a group have the institutional power to do something with their bias that impacts another group unfairly.
