My Kiowa Story
Although I have had this machine finished and flying since 2010 I have always thought it a pretty interesting build and was also my 1st electric scaler. Century/funkey 50 size jet ranger fuselage with a highly modified set of xcell mechanics. century diamond 4 bladed head (the prototype sent to me by century to evaluate) with rotortech 610mm carbon fiber blades. Tr blades made from natural fiber (wood ) and jr radio for steering. took it to the natsin 2010 and 2011 and placed 8th and 6th respectively. still flying occasionally when I remember I still have it LOL!

Doc

Could you please post some photos and explanation on how did you sort out the top mounted FLIR and observation sensors so that they do not spin with the main blades.

I remember this bird when I started to get into scale. Brings back memories on how you inspire Emile. Thanks

OK so I just have to ask...

1:4... are you guys using Vario's fuse as a base and a certain modd for top cowling? Or is there a generic fuselage available somewhere?

Which mechanics do you guys use in that beast...

The pics show the big ring just under the Century diamond rotor head and just above the locking collar. I machined it to fit the neck of the rotor hub with the holes lined up where the jesus bolt would normally pass through. It now has two 4mm set screws inserted from opposite sides and are screwed in till they sest in the 3mm hole of the main mast. The same is done for the main gear. Now the holliw shaft is free of anything passing thru to allow the mms rod to go all the way up from underneath the main drive gear. Also pictured is the gears used to turn the mms a full 180 degree each way by a modified servo.
