So yesterday my son has a post forwarded by his girlfriend... the post is of some Kid threatening to shoot up our local schools... because he feels that he was wronged for his behavior... his account even had the same tell tale images and behavior that Cruz did... AND its been going on for 4 days... So we search online and sure enough parent are reporting this all over the place.
The school districts response? "There is no credible threat at this time and school activities will proceed as usual"...
Copy cat behavior or someone just playing around I dont care... time to take these little $hits out, sterilize their parents and bar them from parenthood for the rest of their life....

then it turns out to be a middle school GirL? WTF

I've been giving it a lot of thought... And I still don't have a clear idea of how to proceed.

What we are talking about it creating a Future Crimes Division on many different levels. In hindsight, it is often apparent that there were warning signs that something terrible could happen. There are signs that there was a possibility of disaster. Someone climbs a tower and starts shooting people with a deer rifle and weeks after the event, it is clear something might have been done.

While I'd like to take nut jobs off the streets, and as the owner of several guns (none of which has shot so much as a squirrel) I'd like to stop ****wads from giving firearms a bad name, I don't know if I can condone a police state that monitors and tracks the entire populous for the purpose of arresting people that might, at some time in the future, do harm to others.

I very clearly see that stopping this badly adjusted kid in Florida is something that would benefit conservatives, gun-owners and libtards alike - a rare coming together of goals. I just don't know how you do that on a national scale without simply walking into people's homes and telling them, "I don't like the cut of your jib". "We have determined you might do something we don't like".

"Well, Nothing bad can happen now."

yes its difficult... but in the cases that an individual clearly states intentions and shows history... its time to make a move... investigate and remove.

This 12 year old obviously has issues, and by her posts talked as if she was an 18 year old male with the foulest of language and disgust...
keep in mind this is a 6th grader, damn!...

and the parents? are they that disconnected from their child and unaware of their behavior? or are they that messed up and exhibit the same behavior, foul mouthed, vengeful, violent... my money is on the latter.

but we will never be able to stop those that simply snap, give no warning nor have anyone close to them that can alert others...

I think we need to start controlling who is breeding and who is allowed to be a parent in this country... as horrible as that sounds...

And the threat is already a crime - no 'future crimes' component there at all . . .

I spent a number of years as a military legal officer. Went to the school and everything. I use the UCMJ because that is what I'm familiar with. Civil law often parallels the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

You are correct. "Communicating a Threat" is a chargeable offence. It is article 134. According to the UCMJ the elements of the crime are:
(1) that the accused communicated certain language expressing a present determination or intent to wrongfully injure the person, property, or reputation of another person, presently or in the future.
(2) that the communication was made known to that person or to a third person.
(3) that the communication was wrongful.
(4) that, under the circumstances, the conduct of the accused was to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces or was of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces).

You must prove all 4 of the above to convict of Communicating a Threat. Notice that it is unbelievably open as to who and how you apply this Article. If I were to construct the sentence, "If your dog ****s on my lawn again, I'm going to take a 5 iron to your car", I could be tried.

As it applies to people in law enforcement, it is very difficult to know what is a threat that requires action. To many in this country, the simple purchase of and Assault Rifle (whatever that is) is scary enough to warrant at least attention if not action.

My point wasn't so much whether the threat was able to be taken to conviction, but simply that is was enough to act . . . and while in custody for the threat, the "nut-job-O-meter" can be applied to see if there is a real risk, or the kid is just that stupid . . .

If nothing else, the education that shutting your damn hole with regard to terroristic utterances will be administered . . .

It wont end there... Im sure the parents are being looked into as well by CPS... and not in a good way either.

its gonna be a bad year to be a member of that household.

Sterilization? Where do you draw the line and by whom?

Unfortunately WE live in America, not Utopia.

The following list (no specific order or all inclusive) rushed in my tiny brain when I read this thread;

Kneejerk reactions (thus my guest appearance )

14th ammendment "equal protection"

Intellectual Disability (Steven Hawkins)

Intellectual Quotient ( linked...we rank #9 )

Parental Control

Parenting Classes

Juvenile System ( Perfect system...yeah.)

Baker Act or Involuntary Psychiatric Hold

Patriot Act ( send a 12 year old american girl to Cuba?)

Police State

Social Status ( money influence )

Elite Priviledges ( see social status )

Corruption

Racial Segregation

Federal Assistance Programs (linked to stats search)

Minority Report? ( OK this one is a stretch but consider social media or search engine algorithms can pinpoint such IF the suspect uses it)

Of course, you would expect such sterilization decisions to be carried out by our uncorruptable and unbiased judicial, political and or medical system.

In 2012, Katie Barnhill wrote that little law exists in Texas for courts and guardians to know what to do if a non-medically necessary sterilization is in the best interest of the mentally incompetent person.

Perhaps time to become "active" outside RR?

* * * * *

The following quote by William Shakespeare is tongue and cheek...dont want to be accused of anything out of the ordinary.

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers"
