How many can say they have their FBL controller set up perfect?
How long did it take you to get it perfect?
How many know when it is not perfect?
The new guy does not have a chance without help.

Looks like no one will ever be ably to fly a heli without help.

I have been flying helis since the mid 1980s
If helis flew better an were cheaper back then how come it was only a select few who could fly upside or backwards back then

Some of you people are talking out of your Butts
Helis and there electronics have never been cheaper than now
and they sure as hell didnt fly better 25 years ago

You people that are talking all this stuff need to quit making excuses
and learn how to set up a FBL unit and go fly

or is that the problem you cant really fly in the first place and your using new fangled FBL as an excuse

Either way Flybar helis are dead and I seriously doubt there ever coming back
so put on your big girl skirts and get with it

ageing is manditory maturity is optional

Well said! Way cheaper now with 10x better equipment. I do not understand some of these posts. I had a Raptor 50SE (FB) that I spent a fortune on building, crashing and learning. Loved that heli at the time, but not even close to my 550E FBL now. It destroys the Raptor in all ways. Would never go back to FB as they do not hold a candle to FBL. I have two conditions in my setup for very mild circuit flying to flip a switch and instant full 3D style. I just think people are afraid to try FBL.

Don't forget
Align Trex600N and Hirobo Shuttle and Sceadu 30/50 are still being made with flybars if you want to order them! FBL kits are also available!

I have them all!

Picked up an SAB fireball with micro-beast plus.

I personally like the flybar, smooth and slick. FBL are kinda robotic unless you know exactly which to dial up/down, it is a learning curve.

I don’t think people are afraid of FBL, I just think they find them boring.

This is a hobby and hobbies are supposed to be challenging. Flybarless units are not particularly challenging. I do have four FBL helicopters and really love them but I just find my flybar helicopters amazing.

Hirobo make beautiful flybar helicopters (and FBL) but as with all hobbies it all comes down to whatever floats your boat.

Futaba T18SZ, JR Propo XG14, Hirobo fanatic!

If FBL is boring and not particularly challenging how exactly is FB exciting and challenging?

My original post is not about what is better. It’s about my limitations with fbl units and how I could come back to the hobby if fb helis were an option and product support was available.

Why are FB helis the only option? Perhaps learning about FBL is the best solution? I realize some folks hate change, but I don't it's realistic to think manufacturers will go back to producing FB helis.

Because I’m color blind and can’t tell what color the setup lights are on most fbl units. Yes I know there are fbl units available and I can blue tooth them to my phone or drag a lap top to the field to tune and pray that I don’t plow my $1000 heli into the ground. Or I can have a fb and confirm servo direction and fly the crap out of it anytime I want with no hesitation no second guessing.

Now why on earth would it be more risky. You can check servo functions and correction during your preflight just as easily as FB.
Sounds more like an excuse not to learn.

Maybe I’ll jump on the fbl system and maybe not. It would be nice to have that option.

The other option is to have someone do the setup for you. Once setup, you're good to go. It's not something that requires frequent changes.
