When figuring all the ratios, especially when changing the mechanicals, I usually draw a simple hand sketch to show the gears and/or drive belts to keep things in perspective. Other wise when counting teeth on gears or belt drives my short term memory is not infallible.
Just a suggestion for those trying to figure motor to head speed and what is easiest to change.
This is from my notebook of several years ago.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Yes, that is good advice and helps people see the ratios seperately and eliminate extra problems.

I always have a hard time remembering what gear ratio and what tooth count I have for every machine I have, so it's a good idea to write them down somewhere easy to locate.
But, making notes to help remember things only works if you can remember where you put the dang note!
Good idea to sketch it out like this as well! It helps a lot when changing pinion or other gear tooth count to get the target HS!

Thanks for the tip!

I keep all this info in the notes section of the awesome vbar control flight analyzer

Obviously, only works with vcontrol. But, in case any of you vcontrol users out there were unaware, it’s a great app.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I usually right the tooth count on the actual gear with a sharpie in several places so I can always read it fairly easily.
