I feel for him.. I do... but why are these people bitchin to the POTUS?... Angry people cannot think straight.

they forget that its the states responsible for STATE regulations? It is their laws that allowed a 19 year old with mental issues that was ignored by state and local agencies to buy the gun and the local school administrators choice to not secure the school in the first place ...

they should mourn first... then get their heads on straight... then take action by going to the state government... They should go bark at Gov Scott and Senator Rubio & Nelson... not Trump.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

You're right as usual RM3, but remember this was the biggest platform available to the poor father at this time.

I liked what he said about his being subjected to a guard in the elevator in the Department of Education and yet his child was not protected.

I also liked what he said about this is not the time for gun control discussions...it is time to protect the children.

As much as I agree with you about it's the states' job to do this, the states have proven they WILL NOT do it.

Trump will have to be the one to resolve it.

My granddaughter went on a mission trip to a school in central America. The school was a walled compound. There was one way in and one way out. There were two armed guards at the entrance at all times.

As our country devolves to third world status, we must look to more rigid solutions.

As much as I agree with you about it's the states' job to do this, the states have proven they WILL NOT do it.
what they want to do or not is not the state to decide... the people have the tools they need to make change... they just forgot how to do it... by petitioning, voting, protest and boycott... they've done it before... they simply need to do it for the right logical reasons...

Focused effort in the right places is key...

Im mean for F$%ks sake its a Wiki for damn sakes:
1
Discover an issue that you are passionate about. It can be small -- trying to get people to clean up after their animals, for example -- or large -- trying to eliminate the sales tax on groceries in your state. Keep in mind that the smaller the issue, the better chance you have at making a difference. Local government necessarily includes fewer people, and because you are one of those people, your voice can make a difference in a way that it can’t among the millions on a state or national level.[1]

2
Know what level of government is responsible for the law. Is it a national law? Then you might want to enlist the help of a Senator or Congressman. Is it a state law? Then your state house representative or a state senator is the person to see. Finally, if the law is a county or town ordinance seek out the local councillor, supervisor, mayor, or county executive.[2]

3
Read the laws governing your issue. How old is it? Which person or group was responsible for writing it or changing it last time? It is important to know the history of the law so you have a better idea about how to change it. Knowing how it was made or changed before tells you who needs to be involved this time. If it was a vote by the city council before, chances are it will be changed by a vote by the city council again.

4
Talk to the people or group that made or changed the law last time. Ask them about the feasibility of your idea.
Can they change or repeal it in the same way? If not, what will be different this time?
If it was a ballot measure (this is only true for some states), ask how to get your changes on the ballot again. You’ll need to know when to file your measure and how many signatures (often 1,000+) it will take to get it back to the voters.[3]

At the State Level:
1
File an initiative or referendum if your state allows it. In this process, you file your intention to have the law on the ballot. You then collect 1,000 signatures of registered state voters on the petition. Finally, you file the signatures along with the law. The attorney general reviews it all, writes the title of the measure, and it will be on the next state ballot.[9]
2
Identify your state representative and senator if you can’t file a referendum. This is the first step if your state does not allow citizens to write ballot measures. These are the people in the capitol building in your state who are responsible for your specific area. They are the ones you need to make contact with if you are trying to change a state law.[10]
3
Do your research. Look at their websites to see where they stand on the issues. Read articles from the newspaper (searchable easily online) to find out what kind of a lawmaker they have been and if you think they would be sympathetic to your idea. You will also want to know their political party and their record of voting -- these two items together can tell you a lot. You want to choose the one you think would be the better fit for your campaign -- approach him or her first.[11]
4
Contact both of your representatives. Email is probably going to be the best way to do this. Their email address is going to be on their website -- all state representatives would have this. Explain to them that you are a constituent interested in trying to change or pass a law. Send them an example of the text of the law you think you want to create. Ask to meet with them about the feasibility of this law. Even if you think one of your representatives would be a better choice, if your first choice doesn’t respond go to your second representative.[12]
5
Meet with your representative. This might mean a trip to your state capital. It also might be possible to meet with your representative while they are in-district -- representatives have offices in their home districts specifically to meet with constituents like you.[13]
Dress professionally and lay out the reasons you want to change or create a new law.
Come armed with arguments and facts.
6
Listen to your representative. If he or she is unwilling to work with you, ask for suggestions about how you could proceed. He or she might direct you to another legislator, or to a group with similar concerns. Always be polite, even when your representative will not help you.
Now where in the Hell in there does it say go bark, cry and yell at the POTUS?

Correct again...but the state and locals have proven they WILL NOT do their job...example: there was a campus cop at the school and he knew about the shooting at the time, but he refused to enter the building.

Douglas school cop 'never went in' during the shooting. There were other failures, too

MIAMI — Eight days after mass shooter Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Broward's top cop on Thursday revealed a stunning series of failures by the sheriff’s department.

A school campus cop heard the gunfire, rushed to the building but never went inside – instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter.

And long before Cruz embarked on the worst school shooting in Florida history, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies had multiple warnings that the 19-year-old was a violent threat and a potential school shooter, according to records released Thursday.

In November, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz “could be a school shooter in the making” but deputies did not write up a report on that warning. It came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize his weapons. Two years ago, according to a newly released timeline of interactions with Cruz’s family, a deputy investigated a report that Cruz “planned to shoot up the school” – intelligence that was forwarded to the school’s resource officer, with no apparent result.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/d...ocid=spartanntp

The "swamp" is not just in DC...it's in every state. They had an armed cop on the campus and he just hid.

I agree this is NOT Trump's job, but our states have already proven they will not do theirs.

Concerning fake news about the school shooting, how about this:

Shooting Survivor Quit CNN Town Hall After Refusing to Ask ‘Scripted’ Question

Colton Haab, a student who survived last week’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, refused to participate in a CNN Town Hall on Wednesday night after he was told to ask a “scripted” question.
Haab, a junior at the high school, told Fort Lauderdale ABC affiliate WPLG that CNN invited him to speak at the televised town hall in nearby Sunrise, Florida, and that he and his parents had dressed up for the occasion.

The town hall was overwhelmingly stacked in favor of gun control. Two students whom CNN chose to ask questions attacked National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch as a bad mother. CNN’s Jake Tapper, who moderated the event, did not defend Loesch.

Like I said if the state and locals won’t fix it... they can vote them out... take that rent-a-cop to court for failure to do his job... then pressure the school officials to fire every SOB that failed them...then vote the Sheriff out of office, followed by voting out school board members... most of the people that failed them are voted into those positions.

Side note on school killings. It wasn't guns that hold the record for school killings in the US...it is dynamite.

The Bath School massacre killed 38 children and six adults.

The left just are so stupid on Gun control. The very libtards not wanting to arm and guard our Schools are the very ones that have all the security to protect their own selves. What has been done in the past in not working period. Time to let some people in the Schools carry concealed weapons for goodness sake and see if it works. It could not get any worse. They are just sitting ducks otherwise.

Exactly! How was he able to get in? There should be one way in and one way out. Listening to CBS news last night made me want to throw up. The Teachers wining about having trained people carry a Guns to protect the Kids. Heard one say we are about caring for the Kids emotional condition, duh? Teachers are going to have to come to the realization desperate times demand extreme measures and its about protecting the Kids. Guarantee the people crying about Armed teachers are the very same ones that have body guards 24-7.

Got to have my cup of heli in the morning.

Its nothing new... when I was in HS.. a long time ago it was a closed campus... then the parents started complaining about the long lines to get in... that their kids couldnt come and go as they pleased... excuse after excuse... then many of the schools become open campuses...

but somehow you go to a Day care just down the street, and you gotta go thru a two door system, the first one outside uses biometrics (finger print) then while in the center (basically locked between two doors), you are verified visually by staff thru bullet resistant Lexan before entering to get your baby... And you leave the same way... and the place is showered in security cameras...

you pay for that level of security $700 a month

I'm not sure the Democrats want to protect school children. After all, the more children murdered, the closer we get to disarming legal American gun owners...it perfectly fits their agenda.

You don't see Democrats pushing immediate protection for schools. If an attack was made on congress and a flaw were found in their security, they wouldn't stop until it was fixed overnight.

Would Democrats actually be ok with more murdered school children?...ever heard of "the greater good"?

The town hall meeting hosted by CNN was totally scripted and designed to make Americans believe the anti-gun agenda.

"How the hell did this shooter get into the school in the first place??? Open campus I would imagine. Another damn disaster waiting to happen." What else nobody is asking is this: he took an Uber to the school. How does the driver not notice a large black case getting loaded into his car, then driving to a school???
