I still stand by the notion that a armed society is a polite society. Soft targets need to be hardened.
I really like how that is stated.
I often wondered if schools should have concealed armed persons who are volunteers (vetted and trained) in the school. They should be low profile (acting as maintenance personal) so as not to be obvious to students or intruders.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

oh geesh... just saw the kids protesting at their school... the primary chant: more gun laws... outlaw AR-15s...

these kids are about as clueless as their liberal supporters.

yet they themselves knew the shooter, knew what he was like, and knew he was on the edge... and did nothing to make sure he was under lock and key...

sorry kids. but you and your sorry human services dept let you all down. Your tendency to socially lock others out, bully, and emotionally shame others in person an online also played a part... you complained about long lines wen schools were closed campuses and demanded open campuses because of the freedom it provided... and left your selves open to attack from others at any time from anywhere.

and when another mentally deranged kid goes in there and sets the place on fire, makes a bomb with items bought at Lowes or drives over you with a rented truck from Home depot... after telling everyone online and in person days in advance what and who will you blame then?

when a bomber blows up people, we blame the bomber... when a drunk driver kills a family on the road we blame the drunk driver... but when someone gets shot... we blame the gun?

we must stop blaming the gun and start looking into the mental state of our kids... privacy be damned.

I have always thought that improving the mental health would help cure these situations. This case has me thinking that nothing can be done. The shooter had multiple visits from law enforcement and others. The family that took him in thought his weapons were in a locked gun safe. But shooter had a second key. Some things cannot be prevented, so you look to armed security. Seventeen families lost members, fifteen families have injuries. A determined shooter will outmaneuver all deterrence you can put in his way. Changing gun laws, or adding mental health is not going to change anything.

Wish the Republicans would bring up Chicago gun laws to the media when gun control comes up. Strictest laws in the Nation worst crime rate in the Nation go figure. If I were a thug heck that's where I would go no resistance. Crazy times means extreme measures people new ideas like designated Gun carrying individuals in Schools.

I really wish people could understand the lunacy of which increasing gun laws to astronomic levels would result in...

lets just say we did outlaw all guns, only cops and military would have them... what would happen then? After of course raiding every square mile of the continental United States and taking them from people... well then what? that's right...nothing... people would still be killing each other, probably in more gruesome ways. Some cops would still shoot criminals, criminals would find ways of manufacturing "illegal guns" or steal them from cops, import them from outside our boarders...

..it all boils down to one factor... and only one. Mental health.

A known lunatic shoots up a school and people say "God damn gun."

Last year 46 people jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. ****ing bridge.

We sure have a mental health problem!
The question is: why school shootings are more common in the US?

Libtardism and parents that no longer teach proper values, or give proper discipline. The AR15 went on sale to the punlic in 1964, and magically, no issues for decades. The problem is not, nor has it ever been, guns. Idiots that preach 'if it feels good, it must be OK',and bullcrap like 'you get to pick your own gender' and generally coddle criminals and misfits own this one 100%!

Friends don't let friends become electrotarded . . . .

That would imply that liberalism only takes places in the US. Or, that liberalism in the State is different from other forms of liberalism in other parts of the world, right?
PS. I am not taking about guns. I am actually more concern with the real issue. Of course, if someone analyze the number of deaths (let say >3), age of the shooter (<20), we will see a very different picture.
Note: in no way I am dismissing the gravity of shool shootings.

Make all three easier to get and our young men will not be shooting up the joint.

I blame it on the progressives and eliminating anything that has to with God. Most of these kids were tight right and wrong at school but now they are not .

Gun Laws
We actually have all the laws needed in place to remove guns from illegals, mentally ill, some felons, underage, and general threats to society. All that needs to be done is enforce those laws. It is very similar to illegal aliens...we have the laws, but leftists are obstructing the laws.

The gun laws being demanded are laws to remove guns from innocent citizens.

A felon can't be charged with failing to register a gun because he is not supposed to have one...
The National Firearms Act of 1934 required the registration of certain types of firearms. Miles Edward Haynes was a convicted felon who was charged with failing to register a firearm under the Act. Haynes argued that, because he was a convicted felon and thus prohibited from owning a firearm, requiring him to register was essentially requiring him to make an open admission to the government that he was in violation of the law, which was thus a violation of his right not to incriminate himself.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_v._United_States
The supreme court ruled in favor of the felon.

I think the root of the issue is anger and more specifically the inability to manage anger? Violent people commit violent crime. We see almost daily examples of unrestrained anger. We see it on social media, on the roads, and when it escalates to violence, on the nightly news. I don't think violence is the product of mental illness alone nor a problem with guns. But more it's the product of people who don't have the skills to manage their anger. I'll bet the vast majority of murders are committed by those that have a documented history of violence and this seems to hold true for Nikolas Cruz. He also has a long history of violence.

Everyone in Florida has no one to blame but themselves... Everything Cruz did up to the point he walked into that school was perfectly legal. And not a single soul made an effort to stop him from doing so.
He was bullied (admitted to by his foster parents), shamed at school and bounced from program to program for his issues... and no one along the way thought it was a bad idea for him to possess much less purchase a firearm.
And no one along the way thought to be on the look out for him, even after he made it clear of his intentions with the obvious trigger of his mothers death.... And no one cared to be prepared should an armed gunman show up at the school... the best they could do was ONE single rent-a-Cop for the school that supports 3,000 students.

The percentages of folks in mental distress have increased over the past few decades. Lots of reasons for it, stagnating wages, increased housing costs, cultural shifts, huge public debt, coruption, more and more and more "news" programming designed to manipulate and piss us off all day....

It's not just crazy shootings, suicides are up as well. Folks really are not copeing. I myself stopped watching TV to put life in a more proper ballance. Can't sleep if i go to bed pissed off. Bring back Walter Cronkite, all the rest of those clowns can go to heck.

Same here, never watch the news on TV, it's to depressing and frustrating. Does that make me poorly informed, maybe, but I am much more relaxed and happy since I stopped MSM news crap.
