For those that can monitor engine RPM, at what engine RPM does your gasser normally like to first engage the clutch at?

having three... it varies.
but a few custom 3 shoe clutches I made I had set up to engage at apprx 5K (then cam up for good torque transfer)... but stock units from Century, g20 and g30 usually started around 4K rpms... it will vary due to wear in the clutch material in the bell and fatigue stress on the flex point of the shoes... some new clutches with thick liners started to engage around 3k rpms...

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

My Whiplash just starts turning the blades at around 700 on my telemetry, multiply that by 6.9 and you get 4830 on the engine. It's not fully engaged at that point, but it's not far off.

Thank you, Eury.
Ballpark range so far 5000-6500.
3000-4000 seems low seeing as most of these engines are rated at 3000-3500 idle.

Yeah no, these engines idle around 3500 (really slow) to 4000 normally.

Mine idles as low as 450 if I trim it down but I keep it around 580rpm since it sounds happier and doesn’t stumble accelerating. Math says that’s 3105-4002rpm so it’s right in that ballpark. It’s being read right off the magnet on the crank.

If you look on DDM, the Zenoah clutch spring comes in 4000,6000, and 8000 rpm options. 6000 is standard.

Once I ordered a spare clutch set and it came with 4000 by mistake. I installed it and I could not get the blades to stop spinning at idle.

No, have PUH and RC engines with different brand of clutches. Just getting a baseline range to tell what is right and what may be telling me of problems.
Can throw you off when switching between glow and gas engines and clutches.
You get use to one then fly another.
