The motor on my Trex 550 seems to have died. It was the align 1220kv motor. When I look for this motor. It is showing discontinue. Or on backorder. Does any one know what other motors will work? I am running a main gear of 112 and the pinion is 11 6cell
5000mah battery. Any suggestion?

Well I received the 4025 1100kv scorpion motor. This motor is a lot wider then the stock 1220kv motor. I am thinking I will have to cut some of the frame away to get it to fit. This is what I was hoping to avoid. Has someone mounted this motor in the trex 550v2 and can shed some light on this matter?

I have not done it, but the Scorpion is 49.98mm. What is the Align motor width?

Also, what is your target headspeed? Want to run some numbers.

The align 1220kv motor is 45mm wide. Also since i am going to have to cut the frame. I wondering if the stock mount is going to line up with the mounting holes. Only one way to find out. Install the motor.

As long as you are not cutting out too much of the structual supports on the frames it will probably work. You said you are running 6 cell batteries, right? Just wondering what number headspeed you want to run? That motor you will lose about 10% of maximum headspeed to the original Align motor. Just want to make sure you have room in the governor to run the headspeed you want.

I had a friend calculate it for me. But i don't remember what he came up with. I need to find my connector for my castle, so i can take a look at the programming of the headspeed. This was one of my favorite hell's. Hope to get it back in the air soon.

Have you tried using washers to lower the motor a couple mm.

I haven't tried anything at this point. I was just looking at the differences in the motor diameter. It just gets me that they are no longer making the Align 1220kv motor. I saw on Ebay a guy selling a used one. If it had been new, I would have jumped on it. The washer is a good idea. Might have to investigate that idea. I believe the motor shaft is more then long enough. Thanks for your suggestion

I remember a lot of people used to Dremel the frame out to fit the wider motors on the v2. The part of the frame that you need to remove isn't very important to it's strength.

60% of the time, it works every time!
