What is everyone using these days for a tail gyro?? The Spartan quark is out of stock everywhere I've looked. I sent Spartan an e-mail cause I can't seem to get registered on there website to buy straight from them. So far no responce

I don't think anyone has made any tail gyros since 2012. You may have to use a FBL unit for the tail gyro.

Tail gyros are still quite plentiful used. It is pretty easy to buy them off Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Futaba-GY5...cwAAOSwBOlaYUzZ

I continue to use and buy Futaba GY701’s. I now have three in use as either gyros, governors or both. They are very easy to buy.

I gotta agree with the 701 recommendation. It was(is) the culmination of decades of development. I still fly a reasonable number of flybared helis, sooo... I still have a reasonable number of 701s in service. I love 'em. Often overlooked is that it included one of the best governors ever developed.

You said you already have a gyro on the way. Good news. For future reference, and you likely already knew this, tail only gyros are not as desirable as they used to be. Maybe not as bad as FM receivers but clearly off from their peak. You should be able to pick up a very desirable gyro at an affordable price.

Yes the 701's do look nice. I'll keep my eye open for a good used one.

Ok, I use 401 gyros on all my flybar helis. They work fine for me.

They are not worth much anymore. What if you need one in the future?

Then I would have to follow my advice in post#2 of this thread.

It's just that I have many . Maybe I'll wait until I return to the club and see if anyone needs help with attaining one
