BINGO
Being married to someone who has MS, and who needs to walk, but has very limited endurance, I have pretty strong feelings about non handicapped people illegally parking in the HC spots. It is a very hard thing to have to see these "entitled" people park just to save a few steps and prevent my wife from being able to get exercise she needs, but can't because of her endurance.
And that is why I like to leave a nasty note to those who don't have a permit displayed. I also had a wife (passed away) with cancer that prevented her from walking more than 30 feet.
The ones I am berating are those who don't have a permit yet park in handicapped spots because they are just going to run in for a second.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Some time ago I went to the auto parts store. 2 handicap parking spots, both full. The LH one had a placard, the RH was a fancy Corvette convertible with no placard. I parked my car right behind the Corvette and was just setting up my wheelchair when the owner came out.

"Could you move to let me out" he says so I said "if I do that I have to pack up my chair put it in the trunk drive 20 feet, get it out again. Too much hassle". Then I pointed to the handicap only sign right in front of his car. OMG says he "I did not see that, I was only going in for a second"

"Well" said I, I will only be going in for a second too" and left him outside sweating in case a cop came by. !5 minutes later I had done my shopping, packed up my wheelchair and left. He couldn't get out of that parking space fast enough

OK, I don't tell this story much,,

when I left 2nd grade my school closed, and because of zoning my older brother and I had to go to a school for disabled children. all kinds if kid went there, from burned kids, to deaf kids, kids that could not walk or even have control of their limbs,,  that was a long time ago,

my second year there I had to help a girl to her classes, and I don't remember what was wrong with her but she had no control at all of her limbs, she couldn't talk well at all, I couldn't understand what she was trying to say,, every day I would pick her up and put her in her wheel chair, and take her to her next class. I would also take her to her physical therapy. once there, and right in front of me she was stripped to her bottom undies and put on a table. well there she was with no shirt, bare breasted. I couldn't look at her like that, "in fact I felt for her so much I didn't want to see her like that" I had to turn and walk away. well the door would always be open "always", and the boys in 3rd and 4th grade would lined up for P.E. and they would gock a her threw the doorway. well it didn't take me long for me to learn that I hated seeing those boys gock at her, so one day I started yelling at the boys "stop gocking a her", you see I too had to be in that line waiting for P.E.,, well the boys would stop, until the next day. I tell you I also hated that she had to be on that table in such a way, but I could see in her eyes and face that she was use-to it,

I only watched the therapist once or twice when she had her shirt on, and to me it looked like it hurt her, and some times it would hurt her, one time I said to the therapist that it looked like it was hurting her, and he told me that it was hurting her but she had to go threw it for it to help her, he said she needs to be here and she knows that,,, I don't remember watching again after that day.

so, I left that school, and one day in 10th grade there she was, she was walking to class, she didn't walk so well, but never the less she learned to walk,, but still she couldn't talk well at all,, I never talked to her in high school, I never told her who I was, I don't know why, so I can't tell you why, I was just a kid, I didn't know what to say to her, so I didn't.

any hoo, I know where she lives today because we see her in the summer on the porch. some day I am going to go see her and tell her who I am, and tell her I am very sorry I never talked to her in high school,

you have to understand that today she is part of who I am, so yes I do judge people that park illegally in handicapped parking spots

her name is Valery

What drive me nuts, I have had 2 back surgerys, and needing a 3rd at the doc office to get checked and pick up prescription for pain meds. This guy pull up on a hard tail Harley. hangs his handicap card. Then goes in the office crouched over and is on disability. Comes out standing straight and kick starts his Harley, that I could not even lift my leg that high to get on it. Two weeks ago I had to go to home-depo, guy with a huge 4 wheel truck parks in a handicap spot, gets out and runs in. I parked behind him with my sticker on rear view. The dumb guy calls the cops he gets a 250.00 ticket. Cop told me to have a nice day.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

old nitroman, you can never tell about those motorcycle riders. My brother has had 13 back surgeries over the last 40 years. He is due to go on the table again in two weeks. He has a scare an inch and a half wide from his tail bone to his shoulder blades. The screws in the plates in his upper back are broken and one is pressing into his spine, have been that way for over two years. He has started going to a new doctor recently as no other doctor wanted to touch his back. That doctor was giving him down the road about people complaining about their back hurting so much they couldn't hardly stand it, after he looked at his new Xrays, the doctor came back in the room and apologized to him. He couldn't see how he was even walking. Up to about September, my brother was still riding his motorcycle, sometimes to go see the doctor 60 miles away. He doesn't abuse his medicine, he just grits his teeth and goes on. Looking at him most people have no idea the shape he is in, they didn't know him before all those surgeries.

I understand why he still driving a bike, and in my condition no way could I kick start a bike. My wife hounds me to go out on disability. I will fight it as long as I can. They want to put 2 bars from the back of my neck to my tail bone, but my insurance will not pay for it. ( anyone have 1.2 mil laying around) I don"t

Do you understand if he goes down on that bike he most likely never walk again, if he lives threw it. Just not worth the risk, but that's me, I have a grandson that I'm raising.

Nitroman, after thirteen back surgeries, his back is metal from one end to the other. A lot of people may think that with two or three surgeries they are in bad shape, and to a point they are, but let them try ten more surgeries on top of their three and then see what they think. He has been on disability for years, one, because he may have one good day, then he pays for it having four or five bad days because of it and couldn't show up for work and two, after all those surgeries, no on will hire him, period. On his good days he tries to enjoy doing what he can.
As for worrying about going down on the bike, sometimes you have to take a little risk or have no life at all.
Funniest thing, when we were in out early twenties, I was six feet tall and he was about a quarter inch shorter. Now, at 69, I'm five foot eleven, but he is over three inches shorter than me. All those surgeries have removed that much from his back. As I said, he goes on from sheer will.
BTW, if a bike, even an older Harley is tuned right, they are not that hard to kick start, I've seen a lot of 120 pound riders start on first kick over the years. On the other hand, if not tuned right, it can work a 250 man to death.
