I have often wondered how anyone could stop flying Heli's after the time it takes to set up and learn how to fly. A Victim of my own curiosity perhaps.
Life comes at you fast, jobs, failing marriage & priorities.
I have missed flying more than one could know, but advances in electronics have given me a glimmer of light.
It might be a while before I can fly my 500 heli, so I went with a MR25 drone to satisfy my thirst of some kind of flight until I can justify the time and cost to start flying heli's again.
Rant is Over Thanx!!!

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

I hear ya. My helis have been on a shelf haunting me for about the same time as you. My wife wanted a micro drone. After doing some trim settings I was hook...again. I've been going through everything, replacing batteries ect ect. Until I get my helis flight ready I bought a couple DJI drones.

Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine

Just move up north... You will have a break every 6 months for six months.
I keep my passion alive by rebuilding my nitro during the winter months. It's almost like flying a new machine in the spring.

7 years for me. I made a lot of rookie mistakes on my relearning of the hobby. I told my wife, that I am not leaving the hobby. If the hobby fails, I have connections to make my own machine.

When I started, twelve years ago, I never thought I'd be one of those guys who took an extended break. But sure enough, like others have said, life, family, priorities etc... do happen. Plus I was just frustrated at not improving like I wanted. So I went to drones now I'm into airplanes and jets. My helis stare at me daily. I know I'll get the bug back but it's been at least 5 years. Soon, I'm sure.

I was Spektrum when Spektrum wasn't cool

It has Finally Ended!
I have you all beat- 12 years ago I put down my transmitters and started flying full-size planes, got my license, got instrument rated, bought an airplane, flew it for 5 years, sold it and now Im back! Have an attic with all kinds of old nitro gear- shuttles,Raptors, 6 foot long bubble glass Lama and about 6 unfinished builds- sound familiar? One thing is, I have been building and flying R/C stuff off and on for 40+ years- and I have nothing but fond memories of all of it- even making a special trip to Toledo. Only regret is that I never got great flying helis-but now have a RF8 sim and doing it almost every night- feels good to be back.
