Hi,

Can anyone help by providing a step by step guide on how to program a JR radio to work with a Bavarian demon?

Watch at YouTube

Something like this except for JR of course (setting up the P-Mixes). I need to help a friend setup his demon however I am a futaba user and cant help much with that part.

Thanks

when you say p-mixes are you referring to pitch mixes, if so you are on the wrong track you dont use pitch mixing in setting up a Bavarian Demon all mixes in the radio need to be taken out.

P mixes in this case refers to programming mixes.

The radio in question is not using X-bus

Santiago, it is a 3SX and need to understand how (or better yet a walkthrough) to program the JR radio to enable the rescue modes.

Background: It isn’t my radio and I am a futaba/vcontrol user so I am afraid I know nothing about JR. I gave my BD3SX to a friend to install on his Heli and he uses a JR radio. However he does not have the experience to program the rescue mode so that’s why I’m asking on this forum to help him out

does not matter what radio you are using or weather or not you are using Sbus you have to take all mixes out of the radio you are better to set it up on a brand new program

I don’t know the details of it. However I do know that in order for the rescue mode to be functional, that it needs to be activated by specific gain commands to specific channels.

On futaba the only way to do this is to program the radio as shown in the video which I linked above. That is how I did it on my radio and it works.

On JR the process should have similar elements. I am asking if anyone here has had the experience of setting up the rescue modes on a BD3SX using a JR radio

Jamovich, I happen to have an JR XG-8 that a friend left me to program. I am primarily a Futaba user, but I know how to program the 3SX on any radio once I figure its menu.
Basically you need to program one channel that can only operate to 2 assigned values, each value to a separate switch, one value will be negative corresponding to the horizon mode (switch1), the other value, much higher and close to 100% (switch2) for rescue mode.
Let me play with the XG8 and get back to you

I think I got it figured out:
Lets say you choose ch7 (aux2) for the BD functions.
Go to the SYS list, then device select and choose to INH the OUT for CH7

Go back to Function Lists, and select one program mix
when it asks for ALL SERVOS HOLD, pick whatever is safe, it does not affect the programing
Once in the PROG.MIX_ select AUX2 for both master and slave
For switch select SW_SEL pick the switch that you want to use for Rescue Mode
Then for the output +: dial -100% (you will have to verify this in the BD GUI software program to make sure the output shows correct for rescue. IF NOT, then reverse then dial +100%) You may need to take the value up to 150%
Leave the -: output to 0%

Test the switch, you should see the OFF on top change to ON when toggle

exit PROG.MIX_ ( _ stands for whichever number you choosed)

Select anothe PROG.MIX_
Do the same with AUX2 but this time dial +50 on the output for +:
Select a different switch, and test it
Verify the value you dialed shows as Horizon mode in the BD software GUI.

Exit PROG.MIX_

Plug the BD to the software and verify the values signs yield the correct function in the GUI.

Hope that helps

Hi,

The rescue is not working. How much gain is required to activate hor+coll. pitch in the GUI? +100 takes it to Hor. Gain 70 on the GUI but -100 simply stays at 0 (max is -125 but that does not help).

On futaba the way around this is to create 2 mixes so that the total value is -200 but that does not work.

Thanks

to get the horizon to work you first have to set the head gain, put head gain on a slide switch ,fly the heli to get the head gain right (no oscillation in the head) you can then go back into the demon programming
put the setting on a fixed switch ,and switch on horizon mode this can be put on a slider so you can adjust in flight

Hi

He horizon stability mode is working but the rescue mode is not. The gain setting for the rescue mode (-100) does not work on the software...if it is programmed to +100 the software recognizes it (but that is horizon mode not rescue), at -100 the the GUI reads it as “0” instead of -100 which is the correct reading for collective rescue

Hi Santiago,
It is actually my JR radio that is being programmed.
We tried what you mentioned, the Horizon mode works fine (after doing the mix2), however mix 1 with a -100 is not working. When i move it over to +100 or +125 it seems to work but we are unable to get the "Hor.Channel (if assigned) bar to go toward the left at all.

Thanks.

To clarify it works only for “Hor On” but it is not possible to set any gain that moves the slider to “HOR + C.pitch Act. On” (rescue). Negative gain results in 0 gain.
