Cool , brings back a lot of memories. I meet John at a fun fly / contest in Greenville ,Ohio if I remember right. Crashed my revolution .40 and needed a few small parts to get it back together and he came over and gave me new parts free and helped me rebuild it ,,, even though I was only in the beginner part of the contest !!
Yrs later I walk into Toledo Expo with one of his .40 revolution in his scale jet ranger and he and his dad call me over to their booth before I even get it to the registration booth .They look it all over and say we want to buy it! I didn't know what to say ,so I brushed it off as being nice talk but not serious and said no I have not even flown it yet. All through the show ,both of them pushed me to sell !They even lured me into their booth by getting a picture with their company show girl ( which I believe might have been Jrs girl friend at the time). I gave in for the price of a new .40 and jet ranger fuse kit with the promise of 1 of their new 4 bladed heads as soon as it was in production .
I won 2 nd place at Toledo ,against two very nice Kavan rangers .Made the one guy that got 3rd really mad ,but the judges liked my all hand made interior over his painted plastic one.John Jr liked mine because I had a miniature RCM magazine with his picture on the front cover ,laying on the front seat !
They boxed up my ranger at Toledo and I never saw it again! They did take it to other shows that yr and also entered it in the static contest and John would send me the trophies,,never expected to get that many boxes in the mail from John , but that was the way he and his Dad where ,,, very very nice considerate people. Wish things would have went different for them!
Would love to get my hands on another revolution .40 and a jet ranger fuse again !!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane !!
