I have a T-Rex 450 (older version) and have just installed a FMA Co-Pilot. All is great except that I cannot assign the On/Off switch to channel 5 (gear switch).
I have a 6 channel RX in with a 3 servo CCPM control so I am using channel 1/2 and 6 for CCPM control.
Channel 5 traditionally is for the Gyro Gain, but now with the Co-Pilot, I would like to use ch 5 for the On/Off as the Co-Pilot takes care of the gain.

I have been flying airplanes and am very new to RC heli's.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Johan

As per the manual...

Your channel 5 is used to control Co-Pilot through the Computer’s ON/OFF input, while the Computer drives the gyro through its SV04 output.

If you turn Co-Pilot II off, it continues to drive the gyro.

When you first program Co-Pilot II, you’ll need to enter the gyro sensitivity setting (as a percentage) from your transmitter in the
“Gyro Output Ch4” screen in the “Preferences” procedure. If you need to readjust the gyro later, just return to the “Preferences” screen.

The above works if your Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx has the ability to have a switch assigned to Ch5...otherwise Co-Pilot is always ON.

Not being familiar with your radio, here are other ideas:

If Ch7 has a switch assigned, you can program a mix where you slave Ch5 to Ch7

Or a mix where you slave Ch 5 to a flight mode.

Hope that helps steer you in the right direction.

Thank you Pete,
Like we say is South Africa.......eish.
All done as per the manual and per a great help on helifreak....

My tx has a Gear (channel5) switch, but in Heli mode it is automatically disabled fur use by the gyro. You can't even set a EPA or see the switch travel. Also, the IRsetup doesn't pick-up any switch movement.
Unfortunately I am using a 6 channel rx for the heli so I like your idea to slave channel 5 to 7.
I will also look at a flight mode to disable channel 5. I do not anticipate that I will progress to 3D flying ever

I do appreciate your help
